Hi there,
I have a 1968 CD175 and i'm looking to change the handle bars to a more flat/clubman style bar (I hate sitting upright...). Unfortunately the bike has an internal throttle assembly which means if i want to transfer the original parts, I'd have to cut a bunch of grooves and holes in the new bars to make it work. Either do that or buy a new throttle, throttle cable and potentially a new brake assembly. I'd just like some guidance as to what would be the most cost effective and less time consuming option.
Cheers.

I know the old 160/175's of the 60's but owned a 70's CB175... the 70's CD had an external throttle on the bars... my guess? is that the distance from bar to carbs will be about identical between the models... maybe a breaker has one to do a comparison with?

Cables can be made up to suit any bike. It helps to have an outer cable first ... with the inner (re)made to suit whatever changes you desire. Find a suitable outer at a wrecker ... and go from there. You may find a complete cable there too ... that will work.

that right there is your easiest solution imo

If the bike's in good original condition leave it original.

the OP isn't wanting to just replace a cable.... He is needing to replace the handlebars where the cables run INSIDE the bars....
Hence my suggestion of looking at a CB/CD 175 (1970's) throttle assembly for the bars.....
With the amount of people on here who mod their bikes, someone might just be able to come up with a list of possible 'donor' bikes at wreckers?

I dont see why the OP cant get the other parts, and keep the originals unmolested in a box somewhere so it can be converted back later on.

go to a wrecker and buy the whole setup off something later, like a CB175 etc?
