View Full Version : Speedometer magnet issues

Removed the wheels off my SV650 today and looking at the speedo magnet that fits into the front wheel and some of the little tabs that stick out like a cog have snapped off leaving only 2 out of 4 left. Will there be any issue with keeping it as is or would it make a large difference to the speed readout?
Cheers.

It could of course be Schrodinger's Speedometer. You will of course have it taped over at the track for less distraction, therefore any inaccuracy will not be observed. :innocent:

depends if the remaining 2 hold it in place.
Old man found his speedo was all shot to hell on the triumph. Magnet block was all broken up.

Will just have to play it by ear I guess.

Sounds like a good excuse for a little bit more 'weight reduction' I reckon. Besides, you don't need the speedo on that bike anyways! :scooter:

Don't need it but like it, always nice to know how fast you are going, and also to see my rev's.

Seen heaps of these with tabs broken off and it will not make any diffrence to the speedo readout. The extra load on the two remaining tabs will cause them to fail at some stage in the future, would pay to think about getting a spare to replace this one when it fails. Triumph and Suzuki both use the same speedo drive setup and they fail quite regulary no matter how carefull you are with them.

Cheers for that info! Will look at getting one sometime in the future though it is no biggie, as long as I can see my revs it is all good.
