01's are not dated lol... they havnt discontinued them yet.... before they went to a lighter chassis in 02 that were more vulnerable to cracks.... soon started seeing people on 01's again. They fixed that problem later on down the track though. 01's have being proven one of the strongest models out.. do the research... ull be surprised.

Nz's market are just hopeless. cos back in the states in see more 01 parts on shelves over the 02 and 03. 04 above.. not an issue.

Why ask how much we think they are worth if you are going to proceed to tell us instead?

Yeah they may be stronger but they are too rigid, just like the 97 was stronger than the 01 but far to rigid....

The 2000 and 2001 CR250 has had the shortest life span or all the CR range that must have been for a reason. In my MX life I have seen 89-92 same frame 93-96 same frame 97-99 same frame 00-01 Same frame 02-07 Same frame

Its the only CR that I wouldnt buy I just dont like it, but thats my personal opinion and im sure theres a lot that will disagree

fair enough :) haha with the modern stuff u can get for these two bangers tho u can run em pretty strong, to hell ive got 55 tough 60 hours out of some of my pistons on my 01. Depends on how you rebuild aswell alot of the kids thrash it together and ring it too long... no wonder there all putting there pistons through there heads. But 55-60 with around 45 and pure death.. not bad... ive known of some late model cr's to go to like 15-20 and bust... meh... its 2 stroke what can you do. love it

I had heard that the 01 motor was supposed to be the best....

I've got an 04 and I found the power all over is much more even. I found the 01 was probably better at the top end, but the bike didn't feel as balanced. If you're a hard core full throttle rider you'd probably be happier on a 01. But the 02-04 is a double ring and the 05 onwards (which are all the same) has a single ring and slightly steeper rake.

The bike so loved by the Freestyle brigade that would be a Cr250 2000-2001 it all stems from the stiff frame great for big jumps and landings, there's a few models imported from Japan and the States on these shores. Price is dependent on the individual bikes condition and spec a kitted one will demand a higher price eg Pipe, Ohlins shock,Hubs & wheels, Fork re valve, Rad valve etc they vary so much between bikes.
Can't be sure if the motors bottom end/cases changed much over the years but the barrels port timing, head shape, piston and pipe did to the effect some were revers or linear power delivery, it was all in the pursuit of the best Sx/Mx bike.
