Amazing...

Makes me think that when nanotech is common place, we'll see Hayabusa-type bikes folding up like a Transformer into a briefcase to stow under a seat or workbench in the garage.

no spark plugs - must be a diesel

It had ring grooves on the pistons but I didn't see any rings go on.

Looks like it was all manually done too! Bloody impressive. I got the CNC to spit out an 18cc V8, but gave up on the valves.

Then at the other end of the scale. Apparently the ground shakes when it runs

I've seen that video before, the work is to be admired, but you know, if I was going to that trouble, why wouldn't you actually make one that was functional rather than compressed air driven.

Like this one for example:

Must have taken him bloody ages.
Going on the size of the pistons and the fact that it only ran on compressed air I'd guess somewhere around the 1,220 hours mark.

I would love to run that in my driveway at about 5 in the morning.;)

Mentioning of memorable engines, the one that still stands out is hearing a 1970's MV Augusta start up. Straight cut gear driven cams sounding like the worlds most sophisticated gravel crusher until it fired up pinning my 70's flares back with those straight thru four exhausts
