I've just spoken to the guys at KR and the special KB deal can't be increased beyond the 20 we have booked

Frosty, I think mattt is asking if he (or Joe Public) can turn up on the 4th, pay their higher fee and ride? (as opposed to pre-entering)
Or has the maximum number of entries (KiwiBikers and Joe Publics) already been reached?

According to the Full page add in Bikemart its $90 on the day. I pretty sure Chris has a cap on the numbers and you may be dissapointed if you just bowl up on the day and hope to get on.

Sorry LB and mattt I was obtuse in my answer.
The day is being limited to 60 riders.
Its looking pretty well booked up so I'm kinda doubtful entry on the day is going to happen.

All correct. If I keep it to 60/70 riders, everyone will get plenty of track time. Any more than that and it starts to get a bit crowded. By all means turn up on the day, but I can't guarantee a place. The '$90 turn up on the day' will be scrapped for future dates.

Due to my financal issues at the moment, i have to pull out of the KR track day on the 4th, will try and make puke on the 3rd, i just can't afford the tyres to get down there and the extra gas. But frosty says that i cant get a refund.
Sooooooooooooooo.
Here's how it works, you give me $2000 and you can have my place, okay maybe not, $50 to me and you take my place. Simple as that. As gutted as i am not to be going down, as me loves manfeild, the lack of $$$ and a job means no way.
If i no one wants my spot i'll find a way to get there.

Just a quick update. The day is now full and as such, no entries will be taken on the day. Sign on is from 8.30 and first group on track will be at about 9.30am. Please bring your helmet and road licence with you to signing on. Your helmet will have a coloured sticker applied and you will also be issued with a coloured wrist band. These will denote your riding group.
See you there

I like my way. Back road to Otorohanga, TeKuiti - Taumarunui - National park - Waiouru
Miss out the most of SH1. Lots of corners TeKuiti - Taumarunui, but good driving all the same.
Course if you want to go past the ColdKiwi guys go TeAwamutu, Kihikihi, Whakamaru... All the way down Western Access to Wairou then Desert Road. KihiKihi-Wairou can be quickish.

It was a good day - wish I'd worn my leathers to ride up for a gander, it was so damned hot when we got there!
Sels1 introduced himself after spotting the Goose and Andy's Beemer parked by the food caravan. He pointed out Slipstream, so I introduced myself to her and in turn met John Boy, Sparky Bills, NC30 and CrazyLittleShit. Saw Frosty and was going to say hi but he disappeared - man, must have sussed me! Good to catch up with Todd (KR) and Mike Esdaile (formerly KR - the one who got me riding in the first place!) too.
Some beautiful bikes there, hope everyone had a great day. We had a great ride up and on the way back we were shadowed by either an R1 or an R6 (one headlight going, the multi-coloured type) from just south of Sanson - we turned off at Koputaroa Road and he waved (thank you!) and headed south. Had a couple of visitors later who were heading back to Wellington, so a pretty good day from our perspective.

What an awesome day! I'm sure my gear changes were getting dodgier and dodgier as the day went on though - can't be too good for the poor little Jade. Man, I though Manfeild would be a bit more 'trustworthy' but it's almost as bad as the Rimutakas surface-wise! Learnt lots of interesting stuff today. And yay Jane and Mark for bringing up another 250 to join the field! I thought there would be a few more of us though.
And thanks heaps KR!!! What an awesome toy! Man you fellas were trusting - hope you didn't eat your words when I locked up the back in the corner! Heh heh. Mmmmmm - very, very nice though. :ride:

Ladies and gentlemen--Which female KBer just got a SOLO track session on the KR race bike? Yep this lady was riding so well she got a track session all by herself.
I for one are quaking in fear -this lady is gonna be a force to be reckoned with on the track
Last year, on the Akitio (?) beach run, I was stuck behind this fat wallowing triumph speed four on my little 250. I was resigned to the fact that I would never get past, for on the straights the 'umph would roar away and I couldn't beat it out of the corners.
Anyway, this other 250 with a fish on the back passed us both. That was a suprise. So then I thought "must try harder".
I recognised that 250 with the fish on it at the track day again. Yep, she's real fast. Passing everyone on the outside.
From watching that track day I am now totally resigned to making it to the next one, and making my vtr into the maddest one ever.
What about the guy on that MV? I couldn't tell if he was a hero or crazy..! Both I think.

Was certainly a great day. I obviously need to develop a greater trust in my tyres & go faster in the corners if I don't want to be passed by all you quick buggers. Nice to meet a few more KBers, not too many wearing the shirts tho. Whoops that was me too. Many were fooled by Motoracer sending a stunt double. Good one, Slob!

What a wonderful day. Weather was fantastic, revenue gatherers were forgiving (or quickly forgotten) and the turnout was great. Good to meet a few more of the crowd I hadn't met before.
I finally did some decent damage to the tyres (although I still rate as a pussy), and from quick analysis of the video I don't think I cracked any better than a 26. Still, I rode it home in one piece so that's all good. I'll leave the unlucky to write their own analysis.
And who the hell let that chick into the novice category? If I was not ashamed to be in intermediate, she shoulda had a red tag on.

Great weather, and great turn out of KBers.
I was pretty damn exhausted, so only went out a few times. My tyres didnt seem to like the hot track and were sliding all over the show. Did some nice wheelies, and went round and round, so in all.. a good day.

Well that was a weekend and a harf! Auckland (Northshore too) to Palmy on track and all the way back nearly 1400kms all up. I'm shagged. Me and Slob slunk down to PN on Saturday, overnighted with Tony and Co and Warren and partner. (Sorry about shouting obscenities in my sleep BTW).
Track day itself was excellent, great weather and quite a technical (i.e curvy) track. The yzf did well, in a straight line nothing special, but man those brakes were awesome. Touched right hand peg down a coupla times and broke in a pair of knee sliders so I don't look like a complete nana now. I was jealous as hell of the guys on the big bikes pulling wheelies here and there, that MV f41000 rocked!
After session ended, headed back up North and got lost, ended up going through Wanganui, then up the 4 (nice road but don't crash cos out there no one can hear you scream, as in the middle of no where), very nearly ran out of fuel buying some from a dude in a cafe, and overnighted in Raetihi (damn that's a quiet little village). Up early this morning and made good progress back to Auckers making it home by 2pm. Slob and I crossed paths a couple of times too.
Cheers to Tony, to Slob and to the dude (Fred) who sold me the petrol and prevented me from having to kip in the bush last night.

Oh BTW, Warren, 3 seconds mate!
You'll keep !!!!
Well surprised I havent read about my miss-adventure already..
Clare myself and pack left Hams at 10am.
Stopped at Tekuiti Bosco Cafe, always a good stop.
Was just getting my helmit on and 3 bikes went past heading south. So caught up with them and followed at pace.
Just before Taumarunui felt something move... rear tyre something... thought Clare must be moving around. Well stopping would have been sensible!!
Carried on sweet... got to Owhango and Clare alerts me to the fact that there is NO pack on the back!!
Arr I know knew what was going on before Taumarunui.
So retrace our ride going way past where things started to happen... and then returned to Taumarunui. Saw nothing, pearing over the banks where where was no fence.
So persuaded the Police Station to open and filled out a lost prop. report.
And continued on our way.. woth only the clothes we were wearing. Got to the motel and Lyn leant us her car and was off to the Warehouse for essentuals.
Had a good feed with slob, frosty, Lyn and Alan, swanman was in the next bar.
Accomodation was good but the dam blackbirds were up at 3.30am!! I think the boy races must have woken them.
Well off to the track where the XJ was dealt to in a big way. Towards the end the FJR1300 and the big BMW's had retired so felt pretty good with my pace and the only things that got the better of me were the racing 250's?? and a Yamaha Genisis. Seemed to be dispatching most else. .. but I was in the yellow group!!
The tyres sure looked well used after each session.
Were going to head north with swanman, but I think he missed the first right/hander which takes you northwards. Sounds like it wasnt the only right/hander he missed!! Good he didnt end up in New Plymouth. What can I say.. sure it might be only 3 seconds but if you are heading the wrong direction....
Still he probably got home with his kit... better keep quiet :)
Fot us was a night in Taupo, got there at 6.30 and left 9.30 am, stop in Tirau and home at 12. Great outing all round.
Catch everyone next time perhaps!

It can't have been MD ... He said it was way too windy for that kind of stunt .... :devil2: Both he and Dion were firing off some great wheelies in that last session .... and then just for good measure Dion gave the MV a heart-warming rolling burn-out and he & Mark stoppied before retiring for the day ...

Well, that sure was a fun weekend, although having just hopped off the bike about 3 hours ago I'm just starting to feel the repercussions! The trip to Palmy Nth and back was the longest journey that I've done so far on a bike and I must say that the route you take has a profound effect on how long the trip feels - me and Swanman headed towards P Nth mostly via SH1, which was straight and monotonous (the detour down 34 was great though). On the way back I decided to go via Ohakune-Te Kuiti-Otorohanga-Ngarawahia ending up in the (in)famous SH22. Now that route was a blast! I hardly noticed the time flash by. Had a few lucky breaks too e.g. passing an oncoming HP car while doing X00kmph and not seeing any flashing lights in the mirror!
The track day itself was quite a revelation. On the first lap I was feeling quite disappointed with the track surface (dirt, patches and bumps galore!), but I gradually started to ignore those little imperfecions and get on with my riding. I don't think I ever figured out the correct lines for most of those corners but hey, at least I had fun! I also lost count of the number of times I was approached by KBers who started chatting to me thinking I was MotoRacer (I had his leathers on)! It was actually an elaborate plan to deceive MR's competition into thinking that he'd forgotten how to ride! :sherlock: It was great to meet all the KBers that I did meet and I'm sorry I didn't seek out the rest of those that were there - I was a bit preoccupied at the time, thinking about my riding, setup etc. I guess.
Finally, I'd like to thank Frosty for organising the special deal that we got and for the hospitality that he showed by letting me crash on his spare bed. Cheers to Swanman for keeping me company on the way down (bugger about your trip back - sounds like it was an adventure though). It was also great to hang out with Warr and Clare, Hooks and family and AJTurbo too!

Well..... when some luverly manufacturer offers me a brand new CBR600RR, R6 or GSXR600, full training to sort out what I'm actually doing out there, a 34 strong pit crew (including brolly boys  ), mechanical upkeep, to pay off my student loan, and $46,000 per year to buy nice things out of shiney bike catalogues, then I might be able to race one.
It was a bit of a change from the old 250 (no offence little bub)! But heaps of fun!!!! Wish I knew a bit more about it though cause from the looks of this months mag it looks like it's got a pretty flash suspension setup! But coming from a 250 I just noticed the basic stuff. Like acceleration - mmmmmm. :devil2: I found out that I couldn't slow down like I do with my bike though - I usually don't brake that much but just bang down through the gears but it wasn't so pretty doing that on the R6. I got my first checkered flag too. (except there was no-one else out there.) Ohhh - I want a 600!!! :weep: No - the Jade is fine. I'm all good. (She keeps telling herself, rocking in the corner in foetal position casting nervous glances at inanimate objects.)
Btw - that whole Motoracer thing threw me a bit too. I thought - that guy looks a little bit like Sudeep, and then someone (VTWIN I think) said that he was behind someone on the track with 'Motoracer' on their leathers, and I thought a bit bad that I hadn't recognised him straight away. Playing with my mind I tell you! Triksy little Orklanders!

Well I must say I ended up having a fantastic day.
I'd set myself some goals for the day.
the first was to get comfortable on my bike
the second was to get below 1.20 on manfeild on my SV.
and the last was to get the bike semi set up for the race season.
Well I went out on the warm up session and all that went out the window.
I was riding like a bloody newbee getting totally anayalated by the guys on their thous and sporty 600's.The ultimate put down was a guy on a Motard over and over again outbraking me into the ciorners.
It was a pretty depressed Frosty that came in from that session.
Ok I could blame the bike, I could say ohh Im only riding 63hp and they all have over 100
Bullshit frosty --you were riding like a pussy!!!!
I did change a few settings which had me more comfortable
Second session and things were a bit better but still lots to learn.
In a frantic bit of pits mechanicing AJ turbo and I removed the rearset pegs and fitted the stock pegs and hangers.
well sod me what a difference.I could move on the bike. my knees werent cramped.
I went out for the next session and I just couldnt believe the difference 15mm could make.
Instantly Im going faster.I found myself chasing down a guy on a zx10r.
What a buzz -I caught and passed him then he had a go right back at me.
For the last 4 laps we were having a great time passing one another.
At that point AJ told me he had me clocked at 1.24 which was a heck of an improvement over my abismal 1.32 at the start of the day.
I conned another KB F3 rider into coming out with me in the expert group.
I followed him out for a couple of laps then eased on the gas bit by bit.
He stuck with me but slowly dropped back. --well I do have about 8 hp advantage over his viffer 400
It was bloody good riding with ya dude -thanks for the heads up about the sweeper.
Last session of the day and it was time to put the ass up and head down.
with my "unofficial" timekeeper watching me I set out to go as fast as I could. I passed 2 guys on coke then caught a bit of a draft off a guy on a sv1000.
well bugger me what a rush. Came in wanting more --It cant be 4pm already
and my best lap was a 1.20.22 -so Im well happy with that.
I learned so much in just one short day and I know that the bike can go faster -if only the loose nut on top is up to it.
It was fantastic meeting all you KBers and seeing ya all having so much fun.

Thanks for that, I was rapt that I had taken about half a second off my previous best. I was disappointed at going slower the week before, but I guess I needed a bit more time to get to know her, and still do. The CBR is definitely easier to push hard than the SP1 was.
I'm pretty sure Hayden was the quickest on the day, (Ray Klee not included ). Apparently Ray followed him for a few laps and had some pretty good things to say about his riding. I guess he would have been doing about 1.15's.
Speedking was doing some unreal 'backing it into Higgin's corner' with smoke pouring off rear tyre.
Weather was spot on. Cheers to the organisers for a great day, and Frosty for the great deal. :woohoo:
