View Full Version : People and the way they treat others

Wow.
Just wow.
So most people know where I work, and the sometimes strange rules foisted upon me by the powers above myself. Does a person not knowing how to fill out a form give them an excuse to belittle the poor person serving them? or to say "I'd like to put a bomb under this place with all its stupid rules and regulations"
Why do people think its ok to treat people in a customer service role like something they scraped off their shoe?!
I just don't understand the mentality.

We are monkeys with clothing.
Most of us, most of the time, can pretend to be civilised.
But some of us, some of the time, still fling our dung at others.
Shrug it off.
If someone is an arse, well, that's it. They are the arse. You are (hopefully) the same person after the event as you were before.

I'm still the same person, but it took every ounce of self control to not tell him to get rooted and never darken my desk again.
Called my boss straight away and explained it, so he knows whats going on already. He understood where I was coming from, and I admitted I shouldn't have refused to finish what I was putting through for him but he understood why. If I get in trouble over this, it will totally suck.

Hang in there Ginger, every now and then someone will come along who restores your faaith in humanity.
I reckon often people with a shitty attitude have an unjustified sense of entitlement.
Some of worst examples I have ever seen is with people receiving charity or benefits, after they havie been on the receiving end for a while they seem to forget they are receiving the fruits of someone else's labour

It's quite simple, if we had access to the wankers pulling the strings we'd abuse them. As we don't we have to settle for "shooting the messenger" as the string pullers cower behind.

A far wiser man than me once said, Treat everyone how you would expect to be treated and if you find it hard to maintain restraint put yourself in their shoes.
I have practices this for many years but every now and then a total F@%€^¥¥t will come along and prove that the gene pool really does have a shallow end.

Thing is, what ever your industry your in you are the face of that industry for the customer and they will vent at the company or system through that face.
I work in a bank you get plenty of people moaning about bank charges or this or that has gone wrong with there account, or low and behold they had no money and yet its our fault there card declined. You just have to treat it as being 'the company' and not that its a personal dig at you.
Not easy to do all the time but its part of being in a customer facing role...

'Customer service' is a very PC way of putting it too.
Maybe get the forms filled out after the customer is serviced? I can understand him getting a bit antsy if you're coming between him and a root!

My Shell fuel card was cancelled by Z because they'd sent out the replacement "Z" cards, even though we hadn't received them yet - still in the mail system somewhere. Give their hotline a call, they talk to the company director in charge of the account and confirm that it is okay, the Z/Shell sites can do manual "zip-zap" transactions during our upcoming Auckland-Wellington-Auckland delivery trip.
The attendants/managers couldn't understand understand why I was getting irritated that every single fucking station had "different procedures", requirements or simply wanted to out-right refuse to do the manual transactions, and instead wanted me to pay for hundreds of litres of diesel for the truck each time out of my own personal pocket, despite having already confirmed with their head office that there was no issue with manual transactions and having previous receipts from other stations proving it was possible.
I wanted to kick their fucking heads in for being lazy cunts.
The only thing that saved their sorry arses from a formal complaint when I got back to Auckland was that they were already being punished having to work in a fucking gas station due to being too inept to gain a real job.
Edit: Went a little off topic, whatever the topic was originally

I can see why you'd be pissed, its a simple procedure, and shouldn't be that hard to follow. The stuff at work is all done the same way, by everyone. Thats the beauty of NZTA giving us such clear directives. It should theoretically stop there being so much confusion. The person in question was a car dealer we constantly have problems with. As far as I'm concerned he can go to hell.
I see someone earlier posted something about monkeys. You have been proved right. Repeatedly.

I've worked in a local sports bar off and on for the past 7 years and experienced far better behaved people who have been consuming alcohol compared with what I experienced working in retail/customer services. Down to silly little things like having a lady get really aggressive and argumentative just because she was asked to write her physical address and phone number on the back on her cheque. Had a guy removed by security for being extremely intimidating, and kicking things (he kept trying to come back to have another go, when all we were trying to do was follow rules made by those who had hired us in the first place). Have even heard about a full sized adults push bike getting thrown across a counter at a pregnant staff member.
Some people should just stay at home.

Personal abuse on the inter-thingy is ok. In ya face and face to face is not ... apparently ...
However ... on one of the few times I was in the service of the general public ... I politely advised the overly excited and partially deranged (the polite description) person I was dealing with ... "I'm new here ... be polite ... and fill the form out the best you can on your own ... or I can get my superviser to help me with it when he's free ... in about an hour. Would you like to wait ???"
They managed the form with no further comment. (in less than 5 minutes)

My Ex-anal-retentive-judgemental-hypocritical-control-freak-boyfriend is a customer services nightmare.
He thinks all the staff at the VTNZ in Tauranga are a-holes or bitches because they won't change or break the law for him.
When he related the latest story of what little Hitlers they were I was gobsmacked at his attitude but quickly found out that there was no point reasoning with him about it.
Some people are just a waste of space and way too full of their own importance.
Sometimes it must be really hard to ignore the attitude and just smile but I guess thats what ya gotta do...or pass the idjit on to your manager!

Some such people regard their contact with customer service staff as a sport. To intimidate, annoy, and generally be a complete pain in the butt. Just because they can ... and with the impression that those customer service staff just have to take it.
They DON'T ... you just need to learn to fight back ... in the nicest possible way of course ... :devil2:

Last train home and last bus home, 70c short (due to large macydees and fucktardeddrunkeness) and a student pops up as I curse my stupidness with the rest of the fare (offered beer and replacement cash etc..., but "no worries:). He's not long qualified accountancy, financialness, law and something else and has been in a mindnumbing payroll job for just over a month and is already talkin about moving to Oz. Fackin shame given his obvious giving a shitness. Gives me a false sense of reality so it does... some of you need to hunt him down and give the cunt the learn.
