I Can See You Clearly - Yes, I Am Driving Straight At You With My Lights On High Beam.

What is with people having to prove just how tiny their appendages are? FFS!

I wonder what was going through this dick heads mind tonight when he actually turned his headlights onto high beam and proceeded to drive straight towards me, passing just a few centimetres to the right of my mirror.

I was quietly filtering past a very slow, stopped at times queue of cars. There was no traffic coming the other way. It is a wide laned road with parking shoulders provided so a very safe place to pootle along passing cars. This idiot turns the corner and spots me minding my own business, just over the centre line indicating my intention to overtake. He turns his lights on, then selects high beam, puts his foot down and proceeds to start driving very close to the centre line heading straight for me.

Now, I dont seem to have any problems with the traffic I regularly filter past, they are considerate, as am I, and accomodate me getting back into the flow with no issues, but this plonker obviously does not like bikers.

Must be the day for it I guess, sad thing to experience.

Mom, you seem to always be harping on about incidents that you get involved with on the road. I drive/ride about 600km a week and don't think I have had a tenth of the negative experiences that you seem to be experiencing. Do you drive/ride 6000 km a week or are you are trouble magnet?... or are you routinely making mountains out of molehills??

Yeah, and I would've pulled out my 50 cal and nailed him there and then.

And maybe I'd then wake up and take my hand off it.

I had something similar this afternoon while overtaking. The oncoming car was still about 100m away as I pulled in but he obviously took exception and gave me the "sign". Road rage is becoming more common and some people feel the need to "teach you a lesson" somewhat unnecessarily if they were a bit more relaxed.

To the poster who suggested kicking his mirror, you hsven't thought about it as all that would happen is that Mom would come off very badly.

Yeah ouch! I could just imagine how it would feel to have my hand collide into a wing mirror with a combined speed of around 100km/h.

No thanks. Haha.

Yes! I did exactly that to a Hilux surf wing mirror as I was overtaking it (Prolly only a 15 to 20 kph difference in speed added to my swing) and I just about lost it.

Fuck, now I feel compelled to explain my lunacy.

I knew the driver and had previously had words with him (three or four weeks earlier) about his shit attitude and what he could expect from me (after he had been boasting to people that he hates bikers and likes to close the gap up on lane splitters). The fucker attempted to close me out as I was about to lane split past him. Fortunately the car next to him swerved as he moved over and I shot the gap and reached out to bust his mirror for him as I went by (had told him I'd dent his roof but it was too far to reach).

I saw him about a month later (in a delicate environment) and he denied all knowledge of it. A pointless and gutless lie as his advertising was all over his wagon. (project management, forensic accounting, quantity surveyor and a whole bunch of other crap written all over it)... Pfffffffffft

That was a few years ago now

I can't remeber the exact wattage we have hanging off the pesky esky
but given thats four hellas plus the hella inserts where the orignals were
plus the two cross beams ( mounted under the lower hella at fourty five )
( so when sideways into a corner theres atleast one light on the road )

needless to say its pretty bright...

objected to me filtering this evening on the ride home,
Filtering up to the lights at the 10-15kph I do each night,
Pulled up at the line beside her, a good meter between her and I and the same on my right.
Four lane road 4.30pm traffic,
""Oi you:, she yelled at me" you not meant to do that""
She pulled her car forward to be beside me, in doing so , her car was over the line and in the flow of the crossing traffic.
"oh, you have a problem with me lady""
""your meant to be behind me, in the line of traffic"" she said,
"" oh sorry, " i replied
At this point she decided to turn her car towards me, attempting to dive into me!!
"W T F...Lady get real" I yelled at her.
She continued to creep towards me so I lifted my left boot, and calmly removed her right mirror.
The light change green, with a quick check to ensure no red lighters were coming, Im off.
Behind me I could hear this Merc revving hard, and the woman yelling out her window.
Fortunately, the two lanes of traffic were banked up a short distance ahead of me,
thus I was able to slip between two vehicles waiting at the next set of lights.
Having placed a ""shield"" between me an this aggressive lady. I took note of her very easy to remember plate.
Then I filtered up to the next set of lights, again at 10- 15 kph.
Continuing my normal, sedate pootle home filtering as I went.
I can understand a person getting annoyed and voicing thier opinion at the lights,
But there was no need to deliberately try to ram me.
Shame her expensive Merc convertible Reg 02MERC is now minus a right side mirror,
Sorry lady, my boot did not see you ....

Why on earth would you want to be across the centre-line in the face of oncoming traffic? It seems to me to be a seriously dangerous place to be, low speed or not.

This is my thought. I have to constantly lanesplit through central Auckland in peak hours but I never split up the hard left of a left-most lane (the gutter is a bad place to be) though some do, and I never split riding or crossing the centre-line. So sometimes I do get stuck in a queue but I've never had an accident or some mad cunt cracking the shits at me in two years of commuting into the CBD every working day.

Tsk, consider yourself taught...

You are not allowed to utilise the benefits of your narrow, agile, fun, choice of transport on the same road as somebody with a strong moral instinct to enforce the road code as they see fit to the limit of their understanding. You have to sit in the queue with everybody else & boil your motor.
How ruddy well dare you make progress. Disgusting.

you were over the centre line, and he passed closely to you? what do you fucking expect? you were on HIS side of the road. You also mention that he had just turned the corner, so, you chose to overtake, by going onto the wrong side of the road, near an intersection, where you couldnt be sure if the road would be clear for the duration of your manoeuvre?

There was no traffic coming that is the point. I happily pootle up that road just over the centre line almost every day, I have never had problems. There is no risk to me doing this as the lane beside is wide with a huge shoulder, and like I said I have never had an issue like this before.

I never split riding or crossing the centre-line. So sometimes I do get stuck in a queue but I've never had an accident or some mad cunt cracking the shits at me in two years of commuting into the CBD every working day.

Well I do filter through traffic when it is stopped/going so slowly it may as well be stopped. I dont take risks in my opinion, and I dont as a rule ever have car drivers aiming straight for me either.

I will forgive you, for you obviously dont have to navigate your way through traffic that we have here in the shitty city, so you really have no idea of what you are talking about regarding filtering in traffic ( shit I have also been known to use flush medians - bite me) and you also have completely missed the point of my thread. This bloke deliberately drove towards me, he did not just pass close to me, he made a point of making it clear he was going to run me down. He spent the best part of at least 100 metres heading directly for me, with his lights on high beam, I was probably back over the centre line when he went past me. I did not make an overtaking manouver near an intersection at all. Mind you twats do have some problems making themselves understood by people with poor reading/comprehension skills

+1 to you too :sunny:

There was no traffic coming that is the point...

Seriously Anne, I think you're missing the real point. The car driving straight at you, while you were on the wrong side of the road, suggests otherwise? You seem to be rather irate that you had to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision when you were on the wrong side of the road?

...I happily pootle up that road just over the centre line almost every day, I have never had problems. There is no risk to me doing this as the lane beside is wide with a huge shoulder, and like I said I have never had an issue like this before...

You're suggesting that because it's a wide road oncoming cars have plenty of room to keep left, so therefore it's okay to create your own passing lane on their side of the road, and that they should make room?

Lane-splitting between low-speed queues of cars going your own direction is a valid option, and it's up to each rider to consider the merits and risks of doing it. But lane-splitting across the centre line and into the face of on-coming traffic is seriously seriously dangerous - don't do it, eh.

I've had two incredibly close shaves in the cage with bikers "lane-splitting" down the centre-line. As you can tell, the practice really alarms me.

The centre-line is sacrosanct and is not negotiable.

Have over the last 35 years had occasion to put the boot into a few side doors, found it a very satisfying way of getting my message across.
Well remember stopping my old Sprint 995 in the center of the lane outside Newmarket baths, slowly putting it on it's center stand and walking back to have a wee word to remonstrate with a guy in a new BMW who reeked of booze when I got up close. He declined to get out of the car (this after following me down Khyber Pass, tailgating and honking his horn) nasty business that was.
However, on other occasions have let it slide. One memorable moment was on the way into Cambridge. Woman in a 4 wheel drive, eyes wide open, crossing the center line, lights blazing, middle of a sunny day, registering nothing on her face. Managed to flick left then right to avoid the ditch.
For me it all depends how the anti psychotics are working at the time.

Tiddlywinks at dawn, gentlemen.

Would suggest not.
This tosser has upset so many good people with his moralistic bullshit.
Time someone had a word with his ugly, midget, opinionated, low life, small town attitude.
Has had any amounts of opportunities to front up and conveniently missed them all.
Shut up, front up, or fuck off Katman.

Mrs rich bitch in her Blue merc, reg 02MERC
objected to me filtering this evening on the ride home,
Filtering up to the lights at the 10-15kph I do each night,
Pulled up at the line beside her, a good meter between her and I and the same on my right.
Shame her expensive Merc convertible Reg 02MERC is now minus a right side mirror,
Sorry lady, my boot did not see you ....

o2merc 02merc carjam says no such plate

No, you're wrong simply because you attempted to play the role of the mean motherfucker bikie while using the other traffic to aid your running away.

Now you're simply embarassed for bringing the story to public airing.

Tough shit.

I know how you love beating off while telling everyone the errors of their ways. How come you haven't had anything to say about moms attitude and riding behaviour? Are you not interested because she is the wrong sex for you?

Seriously Anne, I think you're missing the real point. The car driving straight at you, while you were on the wrong side of the road, suggests otherwise? You seem to be rather irate that you had to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision when you were on the wrong side of the road?

You're suggesting that because it's a wide road oncoming cars have plenty of room to keep left, so therefore it's okay to create your own passing lane on their side of the road, and that they should make room?

.

Sounds like lycra and spandex wearing bicycle rider thinking mentioned in the fwit cyclist thread.

I was going to post about an experience I had last week. Saw a family walking towards a pedestrian crossing, father with newborn in his arms, mother and one of the olds. Nobody behind me so I stopped even though they were still some way from the crossing cos I'm that kind of person and was in a good mood. No acknowledgment from them or anything. They crossed in front of me and passed the median island so I pulled away at a gentle rate. Pigshit numbskull shaven headed twat shouted something at me about waiting for them to finish crossing.

I shouted a couple of short words back at him and that was that. I now know that I should have got off the bike and punched him in the face.

Talking of posting this kind of thing online, anyone see the story about the cyclist who posted about knocking a pedestrian down who subsequently died from his injuries?
