I understand the warning about locked garages but still feel for the poor buggers that have lost their bikes

Burglars made an overnight raid in Waimate with two properties targeted in what police described as organised crime.

Four motorcycles, including a 1995 Harley Davidson Softail valued at more than $10,000, were stolen overnight on Monday.

It was parked in a garage on a Pitman Pl property, alongside a 2007 Honda CBR that was also taken.

In the second burglary, two children's Suzuki JR80 trail bikes were stolen from a garage on a Waimate Hunter Rd property.

Thats why mine are chained to the floor, the building is tilt slab and has a monitored alarm, the main door is a heavy old industural steel reinforced sliding door, the judas door is made from 50x50 angle and skinned with 3mm sheet steel and is dead bolted, the windows have bars and the bikes are out of sight. Oh and the owner is a big old school biker with a base ball bat.

Reading this makes me think of the times I've left my bike key in the bike whilst going into the shop.
Then walking back to the bike im searching for the key, I look at the bike "oh shit" lol

These pricks appears to be too organised to bother with opportunist events like that. I reckon the pit bull chained (or not) next to the bike is the best way to lock it up, trouble is if the pit bull is likely to be put down if it takes a bit out of one of these pricks.

These thieves will probably kill the dog if they want the bike bad enough.

Meh chuck a few fresh porterhouses at them don't have to kill the dog. Burglars do that heaps apparently.
