Was watching live timing last nite too.
Although it was way past my bedtime....!
Judging by the times the conditions were dodgy... going by sessions an hour or so earlier i would say it had been wet...but drying.. and poss showers (guessing)
Jake looks like he rode with his head.... gradually picking away at the times . He looked like he was not as quick in the last 2 sectors, but was really making big progress in sector 1/2.
Also towards the end of session a lot crashed..... in particular those who were in the top 6 qualifiers.
Dont know if there are 4 or 5 on a row in grid positions so he maybe on 2nd or 3rd row?
Still a sterling effort...... as Wayne said most have had testing and more time on bike................. im sure Jake wont disapoint tonite at 12.35.
Always thought Assen ran on a Saturday......it used to.
Also notied that UK rider who finished last in most (if not all) races last year......... failed to get within the % cut off time this time........... would have thought last years results would have proven he was not a contender......... more money than sense obviously.

......... more money than sense obviously.
Well qualified to be a RACER then Merv !!!!!!!!........ I understand Jake had a spot of bother at one stage, but as usual, his times kept improving, and he IS in a good head-space, which is vital. GOOOOOO Jake

Update from NZSBK:
Jake Lewis has spent the weekend at Snetterton Park in the UK at the British superbike round, making many contacts and looking for opportunities in BSB.
Jake has a test this Wedensday at Mallory Park for team GR Motorsport on their Aprilia RSV4 Superstock 1000. After meeting and working with Jake over the weekend, team owner Brent Gladwin today has offered Jake a full day test on one of their two Aprilia RSV4s at Mallory.
"I am really excited about the opportunity to test for GR Motorsport on one of their RSV4s. Just watching the racing here in the weekend you can't help but want to get out there and give it your best shot. I have to thank Brent for this opportunity and a special thank you to Johnny Hepburn from Timaru Metal recyclers for the contact with team owner Brent Gladwin. I will make the most of this opportunity on Wednesday." But before this, team owner Brent is to put Jake through a full fitness test at the gym on Monday prior to the test Wednesday. "I will let you know how it all goes — including the gym!"

Well done Jake. 22nd may not seem like a top result...... but he finished...... many in his position dont for a few meetings.
Not only that but he finished at a world class event, with the likes of Team Ten Kate Junior / Team Pata / Team Italia on the same scorecard...
Even Stock 600 at this level is intense.... (you would think the teams mentioned were the real deal lookingat their set-up... only major difference from main team is they operate from pits not garages)
Jake must be FIZZING at that experience........... now he knows what is required of him for the immeadiate future....
Cmon Jake a few rounds and tests left in the season.... dig deep / focus and make us all even prouder.:headbang:

Fantastic result!
Jake was penalised 20sec for jumping the start!!
So looks like he might have been around 20th otherwise.
His best laptiime was the same as the bloke in 20th and not so far off the blokes in 16th - 18th and significantly better than 21 and 23 and he went faster than qualifying time.
It seems also that they are no longer doing the EJC. The Kiwi Rouble only goes so far eh?
But that is the name of the game isn't it?
Get into the shop window with pretty enough make-up and hopefully someone will come along and buy your services.
Looks like perfect outcome to me.

haha, yeah, I meant to say: You go to Europe to do EJC, which puts you in the shop window.
You do well, put out feelers and get offered a ride in UEM SSTK600.
Next step from there is SSTK1000 or SS600 then WSBK, who knows eh?
That is how it works these days, so seems like it has worked perfectly. Might not have been the actual plan at the start, but good on them.
Now to get Tyler up to Europe for Rookies Cup selection.
Donations for travel funding gladly accepted by Jason...... ;-)
