My Clutch slips under deceleration sometimes when engine braking. No slip under power. When it slips it only does it for a second then grabs again. Clutch is adjusted fine. Could it be weak springs? Its on my 89 GPZ400.

What is it doing to make you think it is the clutch then ... ???

It feels like im pull the clutch in, but im not. What else could it be?

Surely it'd slip under power while accelerating if it was going to slip. So is it engine braking, all of a sudden it's coasting faster again (which can feel almost like acceleration when you're expecting decel) and then decelerates again?

Thats pretty much it. I have to really load it up to do it eg slowing on quick downhill corners. Its not an all the time thing.

Sounds more like a fuel/carb issue. Getting (a bit of) fuel when the throttle is off.

My MT is slipping a bit since I had a service done. Im thinking maybe it doesnt like the oil type alot. I m ight need check on the MT site because clutches can be a problem on MTs.

Hmmmm, great point. It has only been downhill to. Wonder if the floats are a bit high and shes getting a bit of fuel poping up.
Ive got a K&N coming for it so was going to go up a main jet size so may do float valves at the same time.

Could you be momentarily locking up the rear wheel? I had one of the 1st ever dunlop radials do that to me when it went off big time. Tyre would lock up when down shifting (esp down hills when there was less weight on it), but the tyre was so un-sticky, it did it kinda smooth. Was a weird feeling.

Nah, Its not a lock up. My Honda would do that.

Could be a heap of things.
Sticking slide, sticking throttle cable, strange choke issues...etc. But I wouldn't expect it to be the clutch.

Check your throttle cable Rob. I had an old bike that used to speed up around slow corners, used to scare the crap out of me. It was the cable too tight.

Have a check for any possible air leaks too...
