View Full Version : What would my Britten Model be worth

Got a Britten Model stored away in the cupboard. Its the real deal Die Cast V1000 which was made in limited numbers and in its day cost around $300. Its in an unfinished state because I could not get the blue colour right. Rather than mess it up or get the colour wrong I put it back in the box and put in back in the cupboard for a rainy day. The rainy day has never come!!! I'm sure it must be worth a few $$$$ and I'm sure someone would love it in their collection.

What, one second hand, half-completed kit set model? I bet you've even got glue on the screen.
Give ya $10. Just remove this thread quickly, and don't tell anyone about this.

Told ya someone would want it, from memory (its been a while....OK many years) the screen is mint. Only part I can remember missing is the rear sprocket or front section of chain (cant remember) which was missing when I got the kit from Britten.

Missing parts eh? Ya didn't say that at the beginning. $5.
Bugger! I wonder if they still make spares?
Still, outta my price range.

We bought one, but we haven't started making it up yet. It's sitting in one of the spare wardrobes with about 10 other bike models not yet started (I buy them when I see them as good ones are hard to get).

I've seen one completed at the Britten shop near the Square in Chch. Looked really good.

I seem to remember the guy at the Britten shop telling me about where to get the paint. I'll give him a call and ask him. Watch this space.

I made a Virago model about 4 years ago too.. the stand didn't fit right and it kept falling over and braking the mirrors off... pissed me off so I gave it to my cousin who later traded it with a friend for some random crap... lol

It sucks huh...

I was so stocked with mine... turned out perfect except for the stand... went through about 4 tubes of superglue (most went onto the wood board I was using to protect the table). I was actually really lucky, some little asian shop/dairy in Browns Bay was selling about 5 different motorbike models for like $20 each... so I brought the Virago, went back once I had finished it to get another one and he didn't have any more... Went into a model shop and the exact same Virago was selling for $80... can't be bother buying another one and building it...

right now the whole lot are buried in boxes somewhere, so undoubtably not in the best condition anymore
The virago one I musta made about 15 years ago now, maybe even more.
It was one of the only ones to have survived a few moves, most have karked it along the way..... I think it is mostly still intact, along with the britten...mostly anyway...altho I dunno about the biker dude on top tho, think he lost an arm somewhere.... the one-armed virago rider!

I got an Aprilia RS125 Model once. Fixed it all up, painted it, lost one of the bloody indicaters!

Then it fell over, then my brother ran into it, then it wouldn't start.....

Does that mean no one seriously wants to make a reasonable offer?

is that the original Britten or the one they sold to Te Papa. That $5 might be to high. Has it got the plastic engine or ? :ride:
