Today, I sold my bike. She was the first that I ever owned and it brought a lump to my throat seeing her loaded onto a trailer and taken away. I know that there is a bigger and better one ready for riding but that hasn't taken the sting out of losing my first love. Do ya ever get over it?

Just throw a leg over the new one,,,,,,problem solved!! :Punk: we buy bikes for different reasons, and sometimes yes you remember a particular bike for a specific reason, comfort, torque, handling etc..... but the new toy always has 'something'.. go and enjoy!!

Never really felt that sting from selling off my Scorpio [1st bike]. I outgrew it quickly enough that I didn't regret letting it go. Funnily though, a couple weeks ago I saw it sitting in the car park at work and it was pleasant, like seeing an old friend, and I went out to have a look at it. The new owner had come in for a welding course work was conducting...
I do miss the Yamaha Zeal a bit, more for its looks and exhaust note only. Wish it'd been bigger so I'd have kept it longer... I know I'll have a harder time letting go of the Venox.

:bye:
I know how you feel... I was and still am very attached to my first bike (Hellzie the hornet pictured above in my pic). I now ride a triumph street triple, and even though I love it loads, i doubt I'll feel the same way I did when thhe hornet was no longer mine.
I'm a bit lucky though, I sold the hornet to a good friend of mine.. Who, for the time she's owned it, has been out of the country more often than not, and guess who gets to look after the hornet while she's gone? ME!

Not if it is a 1988 XR600r.:love::cry:
The 250 bandit was a great little bike, 18 months and 32000kms of fun, but the gixxer helps me get over the pain of selling the 250.

I bought it (specifically a late 80s XR600R) then realised that I didn't have the space, tools, time or (most importantly) inclination to get it running acceptably so I was happy to be free of it.
I wouldn't mind a hoon on my old Spada 250 but quite frankly, everything with more power and the same number of wheels is always going to be better. :2thumbsup:

They say that pain fades with time.
Wadda they know? It's been 38 years, 5 months, 3 weeks and 2 days. But who's counting?

She was black, red and chrome. More off the road being thinkered with than on the road (valve in piston, blown head gaskets, electrical gremlins, and more). But I loved her. (My mum had other opinions after I stripped the motor on my bedroom floor before draining the oil...)She was a Royal Enfield Meteor Minior Sport 500 twin 1962. I found a leaping tiger that had been the hood ornament on some old classic car and fitted it to her highly polished front guard. I sold her to a mate so I could get funds for a trip round Europe with 3 other mates in a converted bus. The trip was brilliant and I knew I wanted something with more HP's.
Now close to 40 years later all the hassles, the lack of my knowledge making things often worse, the oil on my pants and boots, the carby on fire and the many times I ended up pushing her home, have all but faded and in my memory there is a romantic picture of a classic bike and me riding it smiling. Best leave it like that...

Do ya ever get over it?I found buying the bike that I really wanted at the time (RGV250) cured me once and for all :woohoo: I mean I loved my first bike cause of all the things I did on it, but it never had my heart like that damn sexy little rgv did :love:
