Hey, I am looking at buying this ZX6R. What do you guys think about it? I havent owned many bikes so not 100% sure about it all.
I will take it to a bike shop and get it checked over.

Is 58,000kms too much? What do you think about the price?

Here is the link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-470963287.htm

*Note: I have decided not to buy this bike, please see post #22 for another 2 bikes I am interested in (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=468858166 and http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-469207401.htm). Any advice appreciated :) Thanks for all your input*

58k is not too much at all. But I'd try to knock that price back a little. Otherwise sounds pretty good.

Drool!! Nice bike, great photos and a well written advert.

Something I have found useful is doing a search on this site for the type of bike you are looking for. It would surprise you how often the ACTUAL bike will come up - then you can find out about all the problems they had trying to perfect wheelies, or finding replacement parts when they binned it at a track day. Or... how well loved and maintained it was. Also find out about any specific probs for that type of bike.

Agree with what the Fox said - nice ride, maybe a slightly high price, but hey we always put our ideal price in the ad right? Hit them with what you'd ideally like to pay.

That is a very nice looking one of them...$8K just might see the deal done, if not, and you really really want it (and why wouldn't you?) pay the man what he wants.
Everyone is then happy.

Re the price...I sold an eight year old 600 sports bike for $8K...the buyer really wanted it. The bike didn't even reach reserve of $7,500 at the auction.

Awesome bike. As long as you have it checked by an expert who can verify that it has no crash damage, etc. I would go for it. Best of luck.

I'd be looking at this one (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/149454-Kawasaki-zx6r-636cc-2006-model?p=1130316099#post1130316099)if it were me. Original & low K's, one owner and it doesn't scream "look at me".

His ZX6 has full yoshi system, racing cams, K&N and yes it blows R1's away....

IMHO at those kms that is too much coin. Nothing wrong with a well maintained higher kms bike but for the right price. Also, at those kms-is there a record of the suspension being serviced-often overlooked. The advice over getting the bike carefully checked over presale then offering the $$$that suit you are sage indeed. The vendor can only say no!

Nice looking bike (in a kind of loud way) but I think I would cap what i would spend on it at $7-$7.5k.

Hey guys,

After considering a lot of your input including that of a few that PM'd me I have decided not to buy the bike. As much as I like the look of it I think the k's are a bit high for what I need to pay and a few other issues.
Next in my sights are these 2 bikes:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=468858166

He will take $7,500 if I get rego. He has owned it for 2 years, will come with new WoF, has dropped it before and has a couple scratches and marks. Good thing is this one has done 18,000km and is an 08'. However he has very little service history as apparently a good mate has serviced it for him while he has owned.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-469207401.htm
Will take $7,500 also and come with new tyres. Still finding out more info atm.

Since you were all so wonderfully helpful before I think it is a good idea to run it passed you guys, if any of you know these bikes please post or PM me. All input is much appreciated :)

Thanks again,
Jordan.

im sure its been said before, the way its been serviced/service history and proof of that is more important than kms/age

good luck

Great bikes-a few known issues-stator-reg/rectifer=but dont let that put you off. It is a k7-even if ist reg in 08. Again get it checked carefully as it is important to service these AT LEAST by the suzuki service schedule. A drop should not put you off buying it-WITH A CAREFUL PRE purchase check. This bike has been on TM for a while-$7500 With 6 months reg? He would be mad to say no.
