You don't know who it is, you've probably never met him, and you don't know the circumstances.
Here's a BIG bunch of Internet points. You've earned them.

I agree. Motorsport's had a rough run in the last year or two. RIP, and condolences to friends and family.

I'm back on KB to see who it was. I'll keep checking back to see if a name has been released. I'm scared it's someone I know.
Fuck, I was almost about to cry. Turning into a fucking pussy man... geez.

Watched the nightmare happen right infront of me. Our hearts all stopped for a moment and there was great silence as the reality of the situation unfolded. Deepest sympathies are with his friends and family, and all those who were there racing with him today and helping out with the Vic Club. A sobering ride home for me, a good man and a very sad end. RIP. What a crap day.

If you can't eulogise the rider in question, just shut it.
You can't begin to understand what that man did for me and people like me. His death isn't a chance for you to point out that you were connected to him through some "brotherhood of bikers" bullshit.

It's not like he came on here and slagged a dead man off without knowing the facts though is it Jim. Takes a real winner to do that.

Dude, Sorry you knew the guy. But fuck off and be a keyboard warrior somewhere else. Its news i put it up because its relavent to the website and I'm sorry to hear about someone getting hurt or killed doing what we all enjoy.
I still think its shit the news jumps on every opportunity to show motorcycling is dangerous. Dont like what i post, avoid reading it, go bother someone else.
Condolences.

perhaps people should stop taking this thread as an opportunity to make somethig all about themselves, and focus the thread on condolences and thoughts for all those involved - perhaps the better way to respect a persons memory, particularly if it was someone you were close to.
Lets keep it on topic lads - not a thread for shit slinging!!!

firstly my deepest sympathies to friends, families and racers, marshalls and organisers of Vic.
For everyone else who either witnessed it or not, those friends who were not at the racing today, you are in my thoughts.
Please be aware friends are grieving and hurting, this thread will not turn into a slinging match, please be respectful and mindful
(the Mod team will be pruning any posts as needed)

I too have been a part of the Vic club series when my ex partner used to race a few years ago.......
My heart goes out to all those who attended and witnessed this today. My condolences to the family and friends of this rider and to all those affected by this incident.
Very unfortunate for the motorcycling fraternity and more un-needed publicity to follow no doubt.
Tomorrow will be hard for those racing. My thoughts will be with you all as you continue on with this event

Exactly. The op has started a genuine thread, about a horrific outcome regarding a guy doing what we all love. Shame some need to turn it into a "I knew him better than you" rant.
The GC racer bar in the sky must be getting close to overflowing nowadays.

Family watched in horror as a man died in a motorcycle racing accident at Manfeild yesterday.
It was his first big race after fighting back from a near-fatal brain condition.
Mark Brehaut, 45, was killed when his motorbike collided with another competitor during the first race of the Victoria Motorcycle Club Winter Series in the Manawatu about 12.40pm.
Not a nice experience for his family to witness. I did't know Mark Brehaut, however the article reads like he was grateful to have recovered from his own illness and was giving back and trying to help others.
His death is a loss for many.
Condolences to his family and friends.

Condolences to all involved. Everytime I read "rider dies" I pray it's not someone I know & love, but know it's someone who's known & loved by others.
I read Mark's blog when he was doing a major fundraising last year, and realised how passionate he was about his fundraising and racing. He came across as a genuine guy, and it's another loss for all of us.
Just because I've never met him, doesn't mean he doesn't count.
For those who witnessed the event, don't be scared to seek counselling.
RIP Mark and sincere condolences to those who called him a friend or family.

R.I.P Ride In Paradise Mark
What a sad shock. Today started with the usual Sunday morning gathering of bikes at the Caltex Rimutaka. I walked in to pay and was stopped in my tracks when I saw Mark's face on the cover of the Sunday paper. Didn't have to see the headline, I knew instantly why he must have been there.
Such a nice guy. Must be 11 or 12 years now since we first started meeting at track days, back when we both had VTR1000s. Mark's was immaculate with all the bling, he was very proud of that bike, and rightly so.
A careful and experienced Rider, liked and well respected by many of us Rapa regular riders. Hard to understand what is going on with Malcolm Forster dying only weeks ago and the ANZAC charity run death in Wellington
RIP Mark

Pardon????
You burped??
(All fixed)
All those involved need your support. Friends and family foremost - but fellow racers, race organisers, or just spectators who heard/saw the crash.
Also...spare a thought for the other rider...he may have survived, but his life will never be the same. He has family and friends who are hurting too.

Well said. Have been thinking alot about the other rider in hospital - he has got hell to go through now, and I can only imagine how he and his family are all hurting too. It was a really horrific crash to watch so close to the stands. Thoughts are with all the racers and crew on the day, I know there were some very shaken people there on Saturday. Me included. I rode home alone and collapsed into tears for the night, shakey, another reality check, feeling so heavy for all those involved, and knowing what a top guy he was too. A truely shit weekend for all involved.
On a lighter note, it was awesome to hear that racing went ahead yesterday as his families request. It was have been a tough day for all those out there competing. But huge respect for doing so.

Yea - that was a hard thing to contemplate. But it was the right thing to do. I've never been at a tapu-lifting, but I think that helped for a lot of people. And then the memorial circuit. Sad but uplifting too.
Then business as usual the best way we all know how.
I must admit to having my heart in my mouth as I watched Ernie Cudby do the rag-doll right in front of me. And no-one home for a few minutes. The relief when he told me his name...
Tough old bugger!!

Not his fault - nowhere to go - but I'm not surprised he was a bit white. Thank fuck for good helmets, as that was point of contact.
