:niceone: I have bought a 900cc Hornet and I pick it up next weekend! I can't wait! I am keeping my Harley, but I was feeling the need to have a second bike after losing the BMW in February.
Something without chrome, that had brakes that worked, and completely different to the Harley.
I tried a few different bikes, to confirm that a fully faired sports bike was not for me. I can't cope with the riding position, my wrists start screaming after 5 minutes. I prefer to be upright, and I didn't realise Hornets are so cute! Plus everyone that has a Hornet seems to rave about them :wings:
Can't wait!

Love my hornet ...a very enjoyable way of riding ... I also get pain on a cruiser and sportsbikes ... so it has worked out well for me!

I loved mine. The throttle was a bit abrupt at low speed but you can get used to that.
Back when they came out they were faster to 160kph than the litre sprot bikes of the day. One review I read questioned why anybody would want that sort of acceleration. Actually, it's very handy for passing truck and trailer units.

Thanks, I will have a look. My husband said the same thing about overtaking, and that it may take off with me, as I am used to the noise, and pull of the Harley when I give a bit, and I will just get instant speed with the Hornet.

Nice choice :Punk: A female friend of mine in the USA rides a Hornet which she's progressively customising to suit her tastes. You might be interested in some of her posts: http://www.freeranging.net/blog/

I'd lay money here and now, a simple wager of sorts, that come summer, you'll be counting the miles ridden since your Hornetto purchase in the thousands...
...and those ridden on the Harley in the tens...

Had to go to Auckland today for work (from Whangarei) no work cars available so I took my Hornet 900, the round trip from home to work then to Papakura returning via Takapuna was over 450kms. Even with the rain and wind the bike performed brilliantly, used 22.5 litres of petrol (5 litres per 100km) economy was caused by the wind and rain (keeping my speed to 100km/h)
I have had my bike for under a month now, so when I got it home I let her cool down, then washed her, and re-lubed the chain, paddock stand is a god send!!!

Dig mine. I keep modding it!
I am most disturbed you described it as 'cute'.
Pipes are nice - give it a bit of personality over the quiet stock system.
Stock bars are weird - throw them away.
The transmission is fussy on what oil you run. Castrol was shit, Motul good (both semi synthetic) and fully synth Spectro or Mobil have been best.
Suspension mods make a big difference - a front end spring change out is cheap - rear shock not so much but the $ are forgotten after the first ride! See Robert Taylor for both.
Run on 91 anything above is a waste of $.

Gah! Been getting no end of texts, calls and colleagues ribbing (get it, ribbing? ah fergeddiaboutit), yeup, Kathy was there as well - I think it was the camo gear and enthusiastic ordering that made for good tv

That was me. I have the annoying habit of sometimes being right. Seriously, can you see why so many people love Hornets here on KiddieBiker...? If they did a fully faired Hornet with about 1000cc's, and with Suzuki GSXR written on the side, I'd own a Hornet as well...
