Two good races well worth hunting down. Particularly for the Italian meltdown in the second one.

Can't really imagine the BMW boss repeating the hug he gave him after race 1.
Melandri "didn't want to settle for second"
$50 says he wont win a title, ever again.
What a munter.

You're blaming Melandri for this??

Rea isn't even alongside Haslam in that corner when he takes him out. :shit:

Yeah, for sure blaming Melandri. Yeah, Rea is a bit mental too, but he wouldn't have been able to do anything if it wasn't for Melandri.

I thought Melandri's lunge made Haslam run a little wide opening the door for Rae to have a go... ropey for sure but if Melandri had settled for second BMW would have had their second 1, 2 of the day. Great fun though and it had been pretty "no quarter" all day.

Most exciting racing we've had in a headline event since Catalunya a coupla years ago and some of you guys are complaining?
Sure, I'm sorry for Haslam, and for Melandri, but they'll both have their moments in the sun.
It's usually only WSS or Moto2 that provide the fun and games, but the action in those two races this week was brilliant.
Lookin' forward to the next round...

Go get some glasses mate...just because a 'gap' opens up doesn't make it ok to go for it at all cost...Melandri made a go...fucked it up but didn't take anyone out. Jonathan Rea on the other hand :weird:
Ended up bowling for beemers!

Kinda makes MotoGP look silly eh? What a couple of cracking races, best I've seen for ages.
Bit tough to call that 2nd race last corner, watched it over and over. It did look like Haslam was going wide and there was room for Rea, Haslam sorta late apexed it and turned in on a only slightly hot Rea...........tough racing! Bloody great viewing though :wings:
BMW tried to lodge a protest regarding the last corner incident in Race 2 involving Jonathan Rea, Marco Melandri and Leon Haslam, but the Race Direction deemed it just some hard ‘macho’ racing and the Honda rider came away with no disqualification or penalty, so the witch hunting on who to blame can be laid to rest.

I liked one of Milandri's quotes, "Asphalt 1 - Milandri 0"

And Sykes: "I'm not the sharpest tool in the box but I managed to figure out that five minus two equals podium. [GRIN]"

Any racer worth a pinch of shit would've gone for that gap to win the race.

Exactly bud, it's called racing ! Had me on the edge of my chair and the old ticker pumping.
There was a lot of fairing banging going on earlier too so quite a race really.

Rea got in there...there was room. Haslam should have been expecting someone to have a go and been ready....it was the last corner ffs!
But f*ck, what good racing!

I know it was heat of the moment 'n all, but could Rea have tightened his line up? It looks like he had half a metre or so on his left... His helmet is up and looking where he's going rather than where he wants to go (again, I know it was heat-of-the-moment) which might have made him drift wide, and subsequently into Haslam. I dunno... just my observation.

He did it earlier in the race too (on Melandri I think) and got away with it....funny how some people whine about racers "T-boning" other racers here in NZ when they go in to hot for a gap that was never there but when it comes to WSBK its ok?! Rea was hot in and was never going to make it without collateral damage...I felt for BMW.
Although...I must add...what some sensational racing prior to the last corner!

I didn't see anyone 'T boning' anyone in that bit. How many times have you seen Rossi go for a minute gap to win a race last corner last lap? Sete Gibernau know's all about it. So does Lorenzo. He passed Stoner on the dirt at Laguna Seca. I've seen an awesome picture of Aaron Slight when he won the Australian Superbike Championship nearly putting his ZXR750 in the dirt going under someone who'd ridden the near perfect defensive line but still got taken.
I'm not into dirty riding. I've never ever taken anyone out unless there was no other option avail. But these guys mean business mate.
Here's another Pom's take on it - I must say I do agree with him - looked like a a fair gap to me.

What's your thoughts on that? I'm not a racers arsehole but both of those incidents involve a rider going wide and then trying to get back to the racing line without bothering to look to see if anyones there. Who's at fault?

Hard to say, both times it looks to me like Rea has tried to force a gap that was dubious in the closing laps, worked in his favour at Donnigton and not so much at Brno. I'd have to put fault more on Rea's shoulders than Sykes' this time.
