Anyone seen this before?

Has happened a few times. Computer is only about a month old

The screen goes like that. Can move the mouse around a bit then it freezes.

if it has a video card, make sure the card is plugged in properly, and all the cables are right.. if yes, replace it.

+1 on the cable check

if it locks up and crashes its not likely to be the cable, more likely the hardware or the driver.. or the driver because of the hardware...

Yep, double check cables, but that looks like a very unhappy graphics card. Try another graphics card, all other hardware remaining the same.

Double check drivers, but I suspect corruption in the graphics card memory.

Yep my guess would have been dead gfx card as well.

Oh, and if you have another PCI-E slot (assuming it's PCI-E) then try that as well... mobo should be fine booting off a secondary PCI-E slot.

+1 to GPU issue. Could be a GPU driver issue, but that's unlikely.
