How much faster will the TT Zero bikes go this year?

With the TT Zero race coming up lets see.

Team Mugen (not really Honda right) it seems is the favorite to take out the £10,000 prize money for the first bike to do a 100 mph lap.
John McGuinness has more wins (17) than anyone around the TT circuit so can't really get a better rider for the bike.
As far as power goes you can dial up whatever you want on these machines but its more about economy and judging power usage so you don't go down on power before the end of the lap. 22 minutes 38.28 seconds is a 100mph lap so just over a 3C burn on the batteries ignoring any regeneration.

The Mugen/Honda thingy should be good, based purely on Hondas might. But you'd be gambling heavily to past the Moto Cysz (spelling?). 2 years experience and another years development on last year.

One thing's for sure, it'll be a really good race this year.

MotoCzysz, from Portland, Oregon, narrowly missed out on recording the first 100mph lap by an electric bike at the Isle of Man TT Races.

Their E1PC machine, ridden by Californian Mark Miller, lapped the iconic mountain course in a time of 23 minutes 22.89 seconds to take the honours in the TT Zero race. (99.513mph)

Isle of Man TT star Michael Rutter narrowly missed out on cracking the prestigious 100mph mark for an electric bike for the first time in today’s SES TT Zero Race.

He took his Segway MotoCzysz machine to an electric bike record 99.64mph lap, breaking the record that his team-mate Mark Miller set last year.

This one of the coolest IOMTT videos I've seen! Love the way they have google earth along the top of the screen showing where the bikes are and elevation above sea level at the bottom. Not to mention the continuous views of both Rutters and Millers bikes.


See Kawasaki is using the six speed gearbox and their rider is yet to even test ride the bike. Don't really rate their efforts definitely wanna see how they go.

Testing at Caldwell Park on the 25th.Honda has bought two bikes out for the TT and are testing another back in Japan at the same time.

Not that surprising really. Would be very bad publicity for Zytec if the bike was completely classed or failed. And there hasn't been any reports of the bike even being tested to my knowledge.

With Sunday’s session cancelled on the account of rain, today’s combined practice/qualifying session for the 2012 SES TT Zero started under ideal conditions. With over 10 bikes starting from Glencrutchery Road, it was Michael Rutter on the 2012 MotoCzysz E1pc who lead the field from the line to the finish — setting in the process the first 100+ mph lap for the electrics on the Mountain course, albeit unofficially.

Despite Rutter also posting a very impressive 153.200 mph trap speed at Sulby, for at least several more days the £10,000 bounty the Isle of Man government has put on the 100 mph barrier will stay in the island’s coffers, as the average lap speed has to be set during official timing, i.e. during a race lap.

Although John McGuinness is ultra-smooth, unless they've got a bit of juice in reserve for the race it looks the extra weight he carries might be bit too much of a mountain to climb :killingme, something he admits to himself.

Yeh, but they have the added problem of connecting power up, as well as the mechanical; and I've heard those packs can vaporise spanners if they are put in the wrong place...
Still fairly simple to get around though, and its not like they will ride off if the pit crew forget to connect up the battery :lol:
