After a cheap bike, would prefer something small since I'm not quite fully licensed yet but it's close enough that something bigger would be alright.
Doesn't have to be going but I'd really prefer it if all of the bits were there.

Search trademe motorbikes under various categories;

250cc to 250cc

then lowest price

searching dual purpose, touring, cruiser etc where road bikes would be.

You'll find a heap. There are a few GN250's that fir the bill, many older 250's.

If you are finding a bike that is not rego'd look for;

- rego on hold
(you can search at www.carjam.co.nz)

- if rego is expired then you'll need compliance and a paper trail back to the last registered owner. This means sale receipts.

or it just gets a little harder.

If you are going thru the compliance route or even getting back on the road take a good look at what you get. Costs mount up fast, chain, bearings, brakes etc etc can make the cost not worth it.

I just had a quick check a bunch of bikes cam up that fit the bill.

Remember with trademe you'll always find a better bike for cheaper.

Switch to a synthetic oil and the gearbox should be good.

Around $200 to compliance check. I use VINZ up here. Find somewhere that'll tell you the cost and what the check is. VTNZ here are pratts.

Cher guys, I'n my experience (with cars anyway) it pays to advertise interests in places other than trademe.A little gutted I missed that CB, need to refine my trademe skills
Anyway I've acquired an RG150 now with some easy work, so im happy for now.

With LAM's ... bigger bikes will be legal in October. Under 650 ... time to step up then ???

LAMs? I'm a student so dunno if I'll be upgrading till the end of summer at least, and I prefer small bikes anyway.
