I just have too many projects on the loose at the moment and next to no spare time BUT my god I'm tempted by this...

Why?
Because this is how I see in a few years time...

So - who has been inside an early GL1000? They can't be that tricky can they?

Wow thats cool! I particularly like that adapter to allow the spin on oil filter to be used. that would likely work on a SOHC 750

That Randakk is basically a custom machine with the base honda motor heavily modified. Not much GL left! Very cool tho.

...got one...my wife told me where it was, why we should own it and I went and had a look...that was years ago and my thoughts on Goldwings, cruisers in general, were non existent and probably negative...first ride changed my mind and blew me away...she rides now and has been through a couple of bikes...she said we could sell the GL...over my dead and battered body i replied...one day I will make it my ride, and that pic from Randakks site was the dream..like you though...too many plans not enough time...do it..

Years ago I was offered a decent trade in on my Norton for a near new GL1000 cafe racer that I thought was just hilarious fun - but I squandered my $$ on a ticket to the UK (for which my liver has never forgiven me) and I've always thought - one day.......

Damn, that goldwing actually has a bit of potential! (didn't think I'd ever say that)
Would be a lot of work to get it good, but you'd certainly have something remarkable afterwards
Do it!

Their dead simple to work on.
A friend of mine had one and rebuilt it in his shed while I drank his beer,a lot of the parts are the same as the same year Honda Civic,,cam chain, valves an guides,,that sort of stuff.
They haul a side car well.
