Damn you Hyobag!

Hey guys and gals.

Need a bit of advice.

Went to do an oil and filter change on the bike. After draining the oil i went to remove the filter cap which is held on by 3 nuts around the outer edge that screw onto bolts that are attached inside somewhere. First nut came off just fine. When i went to remove the other 2, they continue to spin and not come off. I tried tightening them too, same result. I managed to get in there with pliers and rotate the nut while pulling and still no luck.

The nuts are 10mm so too small to tap and drill.

Anybody come across this before?

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

I use to work at a hyosung dealer and have seen this many times before, some one has overtighted these nuts for you some time in the past. The only fix is buy a new oil filter cap and break out the hacksaw and cut the nuts off. Pull out the old studs and replace them, if you cut them carefully there will be enough length left to get them out with a set of vice grips.

don't know what it will cost as it was a couple of years ago i was working on them, and i just went to the parts department to get bits they did all the charging and billing. I don't know who is the dealer in your area as I live a little further north. Give the guys at http://www.hyosung.co.nz/ a email they are very helpfull and will be able to direct you to the nearest dealer and help with price.

managed to find myself the parts.

Do the studs screw into the inside area where the oil filter is? attach to the engine casing or something?

will it be a case of just unscrewing old ones and screwing in new ones once i get the cover off?

yes they screw into the right hand side crankcase, just unscrew them and replace with the new ones you have. Make sure you use new nuts on all new studs don't reuse any of the old nuts as they will damage the treads on the new studs.
