Interesting article here (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/motorbikes/9272532/Why-commuting-by-motorcycle-is-good-for-everyone.html). If one in ten car drivers switched to a motorbike traffic jams would be less than half of what they are now. Traffic would move faster, rush hour will last shorter, emissions would drop. Basically every one wins, even the nanas in a cage experience less rush hour.

Sounds good, it gives fuckwits a good chance to steal or vandalise my bike, and parking Nazis the opportunity to dish out tickets. Win.

So you mean to say you've got a job, a bike worth stealing and it's not legit. Winner alert

Or you're just another paranoid dope smoker?

Merely an observation...

I've been communting by bike for most of my life. Saves on parking, cheaper gas, easier in traffic. Why wouldn't ya?

Bloody cold just now, mind. :cold:

I don't have a job. With all the bike thefts around, I'm not being paranoid, I'm being sensible. I bet you'll be the first to start bitching if your bike gets fucked with.

Of course I would bitch, it's a hobby. Maybe I should start smoking to cure it....

Dont forget the increased revenue (to goverment) from vehicle registration ... due to fewer numbers able to "commute" in/on the same vehicle.

Same here, biking is one of those habits that gets in the blood. Like driving trucks for me. The change from 20m 44 tonne rig to a 750cc bike is kinda funny at first, as it requires a slight shift in attitude...

Let us hope not. Keep them sitting in their lines of tin-topped stationary happiness. If cars are not moving they are not a hazard. Keep up the good work drivers.<_<

In Wellywood probably 90% of the cars/suvs/trucks have one person in them.

The bloody trouble is that they do tend to move just when you don't expect them to.:shit:

And I suppose the difference in rego costs between cars and bike has escaped your attention too ...

The 10% that MIXONE mentioned may enjoy the shared commute costs ... probably cheaper for them than a bike (each).

I've done a search, but then I've been caught before...

Interesting, maybe somebody should tell TPTB?

Oh wouldn't it be nice bikes out numbering cars

Maybe introduce a surcharge on all cars between 6am to 10am travelling on the motorway.

Common sense well presented for the masses. It should be put in the Herald

Kevin Ash is a good bike journo.....I commuted 105 km each way for 3 years including M25...the bike took 75 mins consistantly, the car 75-180 mins typically 120 mins. Most bike riders know that the commute is quicker by bike, most cage drivers know and are jealous :)

Having commuted by both and appreciating the very marked difference it is especially hurtful to not be able to ride now! Only the MX5 can come close to being able to get through traffic on four wheels but nothing compares to a bike.

The savings in fuel and time must be worth millions to a city if enough people took it up.

No thanks. It is bad enough now with all the bloody scooters using up the parking.

What ...you mean there is news in there....I thought it was just page after page of Harvey Norman and JB HiFi adds....
Bikes are only news worthy for the wrong reasons.
Anyway it would be chaos ....

What? If they had news in the Harold?

On reflection, you're probably right.

Then the govt could make up some shit excuse to up acc again and the extra revenue from that would offset the losses from people stopping smoking. Seems to me info like this says motorcyling should be encouraged with cheaper rego's not discouraged like it is at the moment.
