I got a bit of a surprise to see Winston Peters on the news make a dramatic entrance on a HD, I thought that he might mention bikes in his speech, or maybe a policy or two about bikes, but no, nothing. I looked on the NZ First website and found nothing there either.

Oh well, all bark and no bite, when are politicians going to take bikes seriously and not just use them to make some sort of 'youth/rebel' statement!

What next, Helen Clark pulling up on a Ducati? Donald Brash on a scooter?

Prime Minister Helen Clark actually owns a Suzuki red scooter....
She has owned it since brand new way back in the 70's from her Uni days.
Plus she still rides the scooter around a little bit.

Hasting's Rick Barker MP (Labour) owns a m/bike as does his son.
Rick rides his bike up to Auckland for a few of the big fundraiser bike runs.

Labour's Lianne Dalzeil MP husband also rides a m/bike.

And yet none of them try to make any effort to win bikers votes...

Who was the politician in Auckland somewhere that had banners up all over the place with a blue motorbike on it? What a load of good he did...

Actually you are wrong...
I have spoken to Rick on many occassions..
He is the one doing his utmost to get the ACC levies back down.
He has succeeded in a small way.... cos we used to pay $275 a year from our rego's. Now they are a tad lower....
I get a newsletter from him every so often..
He has to face up to Lianne everytime on this issue...
and then she has to cop it from her own hubby....lol
Yep I have spoken to her on many occassions as well.

I even spoke to Rick on the issue re bus lanes on the motorway...
again he is working on it... but some things take time...
and he is but one man in the team.

So everytime I see these dudes.... I bail them up...hehehehe.

I'll agree, Rick is extremely interested in Bikers Rights, he also has a hell of a lot of other things to look after so don't expect him to be seen everynight on Cambell Live raving on about unmarked roadworks. Just be happy to know that there is a politician who understands your concerns and will normaly take the time to listen.

I can appreciate the effort that Rick is putting into it... but I don't think it's enough... but good on him for trying...

I saw Winnie's big entrance (on stage - not his arse) and it reminded me of Bish Tamaki.

Had to wonder if he was going for the same group of voters, was simply learning (or sharing) stagecraft, or was just bing a dick.

I don't think it worked for him personally, the first thing I thought of was the Bishop of Tamaki, and he lost that .000000000327% credibility remaining with me.

No MDU both Winnie and tamaki are full of horse shit, to think that someone like Peters could hold the balance of power in the next election is plain wrong. MMP does not work, as minor partys can end up with far more influence than there voting base SHOULD have given them :nono:

Which reminds me.... what ever happened to the promised referendum on MMP? Did that happen or did we get lied to?

It were part of the original package. You accept MMP as they new way to do things, and after a while we look at it and decide if it's working or not.

I'll place a few enquiries on that one.... hmmmm!

I think Winston just wanted to get close behind a man wearing leather.

Riding pillion doesn't quite make the big, bad biker image.

He is a has-been politician... and I heard he sold the Harley...
It always sat in his garage and never got ridden except once or twice a year.

Commited more to his Ferrari, I'd say. Quite a nice Blue 550 V12 and he used it on dragstrip occassionally.....to jeers from crowd once.
