Looking for help with an old PW 80 that has a clutch slip issue.
Bike was very low on oil last trail ride & was topped up with unknown oil by others. Don't think it was slipping before? But may have gotten very hot!!
What would be the typical issues involved here, ie; full plate replacement or just fibre plates? Oil has been changed to 10w30, and still slipping.
Does anyone have a manual lying around or on file I can purchase?

I assume the oil was designed for wet clutches? If not then it will slip causing glazing on the metals pads.
Solution.
Drain oil.
Strip clutch down
clean all plates using brake clean or prep sol.
wet/dry sand with 1200g on flat surface (Glass) Lay full sheet of sand paper on glass and then sand metal plates (Not Fibers) until any glazing has been removed
Clean metals plates again
Soak the clean fibers in correct oil before assembly (New fibers they say over night) I think they will be fine if you leave them in oil for a hour or 2.
Install
Refill bike with oil. I use Castrol GPS its probably over kill for a PW80 but if it was my kids PW80 id use it.
I have done this on a XR200 which a farmer used the wrong oil in. Problem was solved.
Hope this helps. Easy public holiday fix :)
