Hi all. I picked up a wrecked BMW R65 the other week for parts. Long story short I was thinking of keeping it & cafeing or have as a track bike. I got a new 2nd hand straight frame however the front wheel has a buckle in it approx 1/4 the perimeter of the wheel & reaching 7mm out at its furtherest point. This is a sideways buckle like on the old pushbikes.
Are they able to be straightened CHEAPLY or am I pulling my pud? BTW the forks are bent & may be getting straightened but not if the wheel is a goner.

Are they able to be straightened CHEAPLY If you hadn't put the word cheaply in there I would have said no problem at all
I had a wheel done with similar damage and it was about $120 but they would probably want to see it before they would give you a price

Well, there's also the issue of how good a job you want done, obviously the better guys will cost more.
I'd say either a picture or seeing it physically, would be required for any repairer to give you an honest assessment.
I think it was NZ Wheel and Frame that straightened a rim of mine?

i'm not a metallurgist or whatever but it's one thing to have it straightened and another to go that extra step and have it crack tested before and after depending on it's manufacturing method it may need this.
there's where your magic word Cheap may let you down...

From your description I'd say replace it. I've fixed a few and that sounds like a fair bit of damage to repair. Photo?
