View Full Version : Partners race, November
We are going to be running a partners race at the two hour.
Loose format that has been suggested is that all the ladies start, then after ten laps they pit for either a bike or transponder swap. We've got enough tentative entries now to make this a go so if you have ever thought about getting your wife or girlfriend out on track now would be a good time. One has already sorted out gear and been out for her first practice session.

My brother's girlfriend is pretty keen to get out and have a crack.
Just need a set of leathers to fit a midget.

Girls start?
Thats a bit to gender specific for the entries south of Auckland.
If you get entries from the south island it may be to species specific.

OOoooooooooooh, you better watch your back mister. Have you forgotten Luke & Shona live south of Auckland these days?????????
You need to get your daughter to come along, we'll find her a "partner" for the day. ;)
South Island entries - we'd need to revisit the rules/regulations bwahahaha

How does she compare size-wise to Will? We could start doing an ask around, as someone's bound to have some leathers hidden away, or keep an eye on TM. Hard to believe he's got a GF, or is she ginger too? hehehehe
Seriously though, we've got a few months to sort things out. Tell Oscar to bring her along one Saturday, she can go out on my 100 with Tracy and see how it goes. If she'd fit my leathers, she could go out using them, but I'm no midget, so I'm assuming she'd need smaller leathers than that.

If said teenager has a partner sure:cool:
Nothing is finalized on this, I think we'd probably allow father daughter or mother son teams if it came to it. Of course in that case the Biddles will smoke us all but you get that. Noth that I can see the Banks clan driving up to go racing in Auckland anytime soon :)

That's not fair on some couples - Gav/Julie, Brian/Mel (and we luffs Mel, 'cause she does lapscoring for us at North Island rounds, plus she's cool), we also luffs Julie, 'cause she's fun to race.
Hmm, must talk to Tuna - he can talk to Tanyas and get her & her partner/husband along as well.
Ellen & Steve would also be excluded (I think), if it was only married couples.
Married couples would only be Henk/me, Shona/Luke, Rick/Tracy, I think, which would be dull, and this way we might end up with more females coming & playing with us at other meets. Might mean revisiting who we get to do lapscoring, but we'll figure it out when/if the time comes.

Hey not fair we want in, to exclude us would be totally unjust. Oh but wait til I tell grandma wobbler she's excluded. Nuf said.
Seems to me an open 1 male 1 female per team is going to make a good competition !! is this a separate race or within the 2 hour ?
Why do you suggest a bike / transponder swap after 10 laps. I don't get it ? ( Remember I am a hick from Taumarunui )

Red rag + bull:devil2:
You could lower the standards even further and open it to any 2 people that are prepared to pash it up in front of everyone.
Hmm, that might not actually work because I'm sure some homo's are likely to put that to the test. Added to that I'm pretty sure married couples don't kiss either...

Steve, I figure you and wobbler would be in. Didn't want to make it one male one female since this was basically dreamt up as a way to encourage more of the wives and girlfriends to have a go in a low pressure format, not an exercise in who can find the fastest ring in, figure there won't be all that many entries so not too much stress.
The whole one gender starts idea was to reduce the intimidation factor again, the ladies are quite a bit more polite when it comes to passing maneuvers and the like as a rule. The bike / transponder swap is so that we get one set of results for each couple but doesn't mean that they necessarily have to ride the same bike if they have one each and want to send one out on a bike they are comfortable on and the other on a bike they think they'll be faster on. Having ridden more than one class in a day I figure a rider change is going to be faster than a transponder switch so some strategy may come into it.
The intention is that this a low key, stand alone race, either on the Saturday in conjunction with the first NI round or Sunday before the two hour.
Open to suggestions on any of the above, there are a couple of potential father daughter teams I can think of, only one of which is likely to be a clear favourite for the win.

Ellen - my ex's parents got the name wrong on his birth cert so changed it by hand each time it turned up (he had to legally change his name by deed poll to what it was meant to be originally), so I have no problem with you using an altered cert to suit - but that's me.
Not sure how this eventuated, but know port was involved. Got a feeling Mel & Tracey might have started it off, but all of us females are keen to have others joining in, so if this means another 1-20 riders, that's all good :) My training regime is I might try to stay sober the night before, but I'm not guaranteeing that. I should eat food, so I stop thinking about it while I'm "racing", but probably nah, that's just nt me.
