View Full Version : MOTO NZ uses our ACC funding for National Party Political broadcasts

I have a growing concern over the political actions of MOTO NZ.

MOTO NZ is funded by us motorcyclists.

From the MOTO NZ web site:

"Funding the idea
Motorcyclists and other riders might have some good plans for improving their own safety. And, rather than see other programmes sacrificed, a separate fund was set up for these actions. Adding a $30 Motorcycle Safety Levy (MSL) to each registration would finance the plan and, because it was paid by riders, it would be kept for our priorities."

In t<OTO NZ's latest 'Sorting Fact From Fantasy Article' they push a very contentious political view point that is not shared by a large proportion of the motorcycle community and they push this political agenda using our funds.

example..

"Anyway, a day of Great Enlightment struck in 1999, and the powers that be decided that ACC needed to raise the whole of life care costs in the year the claim was first made"

Perhaps instead of calling it 'Sorting Fact From Fantasy' they should have titled the article 'Promoting our political fantasy agenda with your money and presenting it as fact'

I am more than happy for anyone to strongly present their own opinion in hany public forum using their own money. Freedom of speech and all that, .... but when they become a paid mouth piece for Nick Smith and the money is directly taken form my ACC levies to promote a view I disagree with it seems like the oft reported Chinese policy of charging the family for the cost of the bullet they use to shoot you. I am not sure that the Chinese really do this.

Who rights MOTO NZs crap?

ooohhh I feel so much better now that I have had my righteous Friday rant!

BTW none of you were forced to contribute any money for me expressing this political view.

what gives you the idea that motoNZ is using our money to finance the national political party though?

I'd rather, anyone or thing that forces me to pay money and tells me its for my own good, vanished entirely. (dentist.. motonz, acc.. etc)

How do I know they are broadcasting/promoting the National parties contentious policy on fully funding all future costs of an injury in the year they occurred i.e the 'fully funded' model?

How do I know they are funded by each of us to the tune of $30 per each bike we register and pay an ACC levy on?

Because they say both of the above on their web site (www.motonz.co.nz) as per the word for word quote in my first post.

Pretty soon, some might think that ACC is a debt that needs to be paid off , so the 30 dollars is a bargain ...

Except the $30 is going to MOTO NZ not ACC so that they promote to us how smart the ACC fully funded model is. Nick Smith Sure ain't stupid.
