Hi everyone,
Finally got my learners licence at 40!!!!....anyways, bought a Kawasaki ninja 250cc and loving it. What fuel type is best recommended for this model?
It's 2009 model, carburetor.
Cheers S.

Hey there, welcome to this useless site :bleh:

Run 95 or 98 in it, it will be slightly smoother and it would only be a few cents difference per tank really.
Enjoy that little Ninja, they're good little learner bikes :2thumbsup

91 is crap. Avoid at all costs.

agree
I use to run 91 in my little 250,
till the day i had to fill her with 95 cause they had runout of 91.
got a whole 4kph more out of it !! Amazing!!
but that was at the cost of lower ecconomy, 72mg, not 74 mpg. bugger

Have not tried 98 yet, afraid I might get another 5 kph out of her, and get into license loosing speed
and 70 mpg, would hurt my wallet too much.

Hey welcome to the site
and to the world of the enlightened,
cage drivers are such dull people really.........unless they are wearing a micro mini

trial and error, but never, ever 91.

each vehicle is different, in my ute the difference between 91 and 95/6 is huge, the difference between 96 and 98 is unnoticeable.

i the uncles holden (which has fancy octane sensing goodness) 96 and 98 makes a difference...

in my bike it's the same story. 96 at caltex or 98 at gull... not much difference to ride.

FWIW i buy at gull, caltex or shell. avoid BP and mobil for various reasons.

i had one guy who flew model aircraft who thought that caltex tanks were often sedimented heavily (obviously quite improtant in those little fanging airplanes) and swore by mobil... so . meh. i've never had a problem with caltex fuel.

Post-script,
and in terms of consumption / miles-per-tank i found no difference with 91-96, but on 96 it gets there quicker and smoother.

Welcome:scooter:

I started at 43.....

Weve got a learner ride going tomorrow here, look back a few pages to see details.

That thread is also for South Auckland Street skills for learner rides on Wednesday nights. Good fun and no pressure.

Cheers for the feedback folks....seems to be a 50/50 split ....just concerned if were to use wrong fuel it could do internal damage.
Yet to really get on the motorway....just building up confidence.
Driven holdens most of my life then when hit 40, and constantly seeing my mates gsxr1000, thought, do I learn to surf this year or get a motorbike....guess which one and no regrets!
Yep def something about riding outside a cage!

I would ring a dealer and talk to one of the mechanics, they will let you know.

If you want someone to ride with first time on the motorway or whatever let me know, im happy to help.

Motorway is easy as everybody is going the same way. Round town is way harder.

To be honest mate, I wouldn't listen to these guys about fuel. For optimum benefits you should really run ethanol. Works a treat.
