Looking at getting one for 2 up touring in Europe. Around town and on the motorway and back roads.

Would like to hear from anyone who has experience with them.

Thanks!

Since you haven't had any replies so far, I will mention that a mate had a K1200R that I rode a few times. I doubt the 1300 will be hugely different.
My impressions were that it was very comfortable with the electrically adjustable suspension, very capable and turbine smooth.
I liked it.

Same. Very smooth power delivery, long wheelbase is very stable, cockpit is very comfy for one or two. Occasional reports of electrical gremlins.

One of my Auckland-based riding partners has the 1200. Really nice bike. He sold his X11 (naked Blackbird) and bought it. He did the Grand Challenge on it in 2010 and was in good nick at the end of the 1000 miles. Can put you in touch with Andy if it's of any help.

Hi Zapf , not sure if you got my reply to your pm and if this topic is still relevant but hey maybe better late than never.

I've put around 30ks on the 1200 and I love it. The 1300 is marginally better everywhere.

You will be able to do 500k plus days easily, these bikes are made for soaking up the miles with minimal effort. Power to burn, good comfort, decent range and all the extras. The suspension in particular is quite trick and surprising adaptable depending on how you want to ride. Brakes are second to none.

You will love the engine, the R is quicker than the S in the real world and only dips out at the top end. I doubt many have explored the limits of performance of both for any length of time, it's a hoot to ride especially a night. Mine shoots blue flames out under deceleration. This particular feature is much admired by anyone following.

Being a naked you will get to embrace the elements but you kind of sit in the bike and not on it so not as bad as others especially if it has a sports screen. That said, soggy balls lose their appeal after around 45 minutes so dress accordingly.

Early 1200s had a few issues but these are now a distant memory and most were fixed under warranty.

Hope that helps

Andy
