uk-unveils-electronic-surveillance-plan (http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/world/13953268/uk-unveils-electronic-surveillance-plan/)

There she blows. Whilst I can understand the need to collect the data for security purposes, tis a shame that every other liberty disappears with it. Oh of course they need to have a warrant, but that'll probably be an automatic warrant based on keyword/contextual flags being raised by the system. There is no end to the bad uses of this information and there's is no conspiracy theory where there ARE agencies that will use this information "unlawfully".

I'll repeat my statement previously ridiculed by many;

The only way to stop these people is to fuck them in a court of law, so they have no teeth.

"new"??????????

"new"??????????

Not new as in oppression as whole, new as in the new way to oppress. They've been a bit behind in the whole electronic thing & are scrambling to retrofit their oppressive controls. China on the other-hand had it sorted from the start seems they're a bit ahead of the rest of the world.

"They will give the police and some other agencies access to data about online communications to tackle crime, exactly as they do now ...."

This begs the question why it is necessary at all.

you cut that short. Currently their big brother monitoring is only available for cells (FYI NZ has the same monitoring, words like bomb, terrorist, assassination, kill MP etc will be flagged by the system) but does not extend to other electronic communication (not to say they don't already illegally do it) this would allow them to do it to all electronic comms in the interest of corporate profits sorry "public safety"

As a Blackberry user, I find it amusing they are going to log calls, messages etc sent via the Blackberry network... unless it's going to be like the Middle East (wonder what happened there).

I don't find their market situation very amusing tho :weep:

i'm also sure the silent black helicopters are beaming mind control waves into everyone's brain at night... foil deflector beanies everyone!

but no seriously. if you think you have any kind of freedom, drive past a cop shop at 120km/h daily. or smoke a joint in public. or smoke inside a shopping mall. carry your rifle to the bank.

Only criminals have anything to be concerned about, so us non criminals wont mind getting government CCTV fitted in our homes - after all we´ve got nothing to hide. The potential for abuse is massive, there is no way they can limit access to a database of that size and complexity to just a few key individuals.

Especially when the modern way is for the prisons to be run privately - profits are dependant on occupancy rate.

I guess the new law kills many birds with many one stone... no doubt the prison system will be one of the winners. No doubt the lawyers will come up with all sorts of get out of jail free cards. So few doubts... must be a conspiracy

Be patient, scumdog, Greg will get you guns if it kills you. Then when some no brainer wings you he wont be able to run and hide, he will have to wait around to finish the job before you shoot back. Oh and the crims need some tax payer supplied sidearms. Not being able to get within reaching distance of the public will improve the relationship sooooo much.

We wuv you, honest. :innocent:

Did you call them "pigs" to their faces when they were scraping you off the cliff a few weeks back?

Did you call them "pigs" to their faces when they were scraping you off the cliff a few weeks back?Yep. I didn't want their idiot help at all, but they stopped my specialist team at the roadside and ordered them off the property. I could have been sorted in twenty minutes flat instead of three hours. There was a such a large and dangerous level of in-fighting between the services that I took charge of the scene and told them what was going to happen. Fucking idiots could have cost me me my life with their stupid antics.
