I'd like to know what speed would he be doing to end up in that tree..... :confused:

Maybe 25km/h? That's all the only bike I've ever seen in a tree as a result of crash was doing.

On a trailride once we had to chainsaw down a tree because a quad had got out of shape further up the hill and cartwheeled down the hill and into the tree!

You can't learn that kind of talent.
I'm impressed.
Stink about the injuries though.

Impressive, Hope the rider is ok.
I'd be interested to read the riders statement to the cops, of how the bike came to rest in the tree.
I'd also be interested in the actual reason the bike ended up in the tree.
A sweet tale to tell your grandkids for sure.

From the first photo I thought it was a branch low down on the tree almost touching the ground, but click through the images and you'll see that the bike is about 3 - 4 metres up in the air. He's a lucky boy to be alive after that one. Heal fast.

My guess is, he wasn't still hanging on at 'tree level'....:lol:

perhaps he took the phrases "hit the road" and "Bikes fly" too literally :eek:

I've driven past this site a few times and had a look-see.
He was northbound on SH2 - click here for a look at his track;
http://goo.gl/maps/c7Ro
He has passed by the letterbox on the left in this picture without hitting it, so he was well on the road.
Now continue along the road in the same direction a few hundred meters alongside the line of trees, and you will see a vehicle entrance on your left with white fence railings, here http://goo.gl/maps/j3F9 There is a white car parked down the driveway somewhat. There is a substantial impact mark on the side of the driveway, halfway down into the drain.
The rider appears to have simply wandered off the road and half way down the ditch, and hit the driveway harrrrd on the full, catapulting him and the bike skywards. I cannot see any reason for this, except maybe he had a medical problem, or perhaps he discovered himself in the gravel, and wasn't willing to steer the bike back to the road.
In any case, it's a really severe hit and I hope he's ok.
