That article said some locals were opposing based on noise concerns... Then later on says the nearest property is 4km north of the parks north boundary.... WTF are there assholes whinging about. Go live in a retirement village and turn your hearing aids off if you don't want to hear a faint hum when you turn the TV off.
A couple assholes in Pukekohe complained about the noise from the race track (the paper said they lived right beside the track.... as in within 50m of being on the track... ). After the usual "The track was there before you moved in you thick twat", the claimed the track usage had changed (addition of drift cars etc.), as a result the track still makes just as much noise :Punk: but any house within a few km of the track has lost property value because they made a new regulation.... All new properties and renovations have to be made with sound proofing on the external walls... Some of us actually enjoyed waking up after a sleep in on a weekend and hearing the bikes/cars. We knew what the days plan was then!

There are other issues that haven't been mentioned in the article. From what I've heard from some involved it is a land locked block with vehicle access thru neighbouring forests. I am suprised that it has gone this far & will be more surprised if it does go ahead. 26 million - hmmm not many backers for that kind of dough I would think.
I would love to see it happen tho.

Brilliant, hope it actually goes ahead. I bet the anti motorbike pro pushbike woman from Pohara is planning a way to ruin our fun as we speak/type.

A very long way.
But it's a start.
Most of the locals don't want it there but none are motorsportists themselves.
"Too much traffic!" Ummm, the traffic turns off 5km before Tapawera.
I see it as an opportunity for Tapawera to be re-invigorated but that's just me...
If I was running the store, campgrounds or pub, I'd be rubbing my hands in glee.
Oh wow. The opportunities for the old forestry camp!
Plenty of space for motel type accommodation, storage, garages, base for training schools...
The rally of Nelson was based there one year...
