Yeah pretty dum I know but I downloaded bit torrent & that sits there but when I search for & find a song (Jeff buckley Hallelujah is the one I'm after) I push download on whatever site & apart from the "hi sexy what's happening in Te kuiti" popup I am asked to download another type of torrent thing like bit torrent.
i've watched the youtube vidoes on how to do it but doesn't seem to match upo with whats's happening when I do it.
Can you explain like I'm stupid - cos as you can see I am:(

If you all want to do is download a single song and that song is on youtube then simply copy and paste the link onto this site http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

Download and install a BitTorrent client (http://www.bittorrent.com/). If you want to hide your IP address then use a torrent proxy (I used BTGuard proxy (http://btguard.com/#join)) as it's very easy to setup and you can even download a pre configured torrent client so you don't need to enter any of the proxy settings. You may need to disable DHT, UDP and UDT to hide your IP address if it's leaking through. You can check your torrent IP by using this website (http://checkmytorrentip.com/)
Alternatively, you can use a VPN but that takes a little more work to configure.

Go to somewhere like www.thepiratebay.org
265300
Download torrent; choose what files you want to download, enjoy.
Seeders are people you can download from, leechers are people who are downloading that torrent too

www.torrents.to is quite useful as well. It's pretty much a torrent search engine that lets you browse different torrent sites.

Another way is to use vdownloader (www.vdownloader.com) and then find the track you're after on YouTube. Theres' probably a thousand ways of downloading Y/Ts but this on is easy and works with internet exploder.
When you've found Jeff Buckleys Hallelujah, check out KD Langs version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE

Thanks to all.
Asher i did what you suggested - I get a bit concerned when so many tihngs pop up wanting me to allow stuff to happen on the pc.
Unfortuantely I didn't see Hallelujah as a music file on piratebay so have dled a complete album. I only want songs for my mp3 player.
edit- worked fine thanks guys!!

what you download from the internet are ".tor" files - the trackers that tell your torrent program what it needs to know.
i personally use pico-torrent (U-torrent to some)
what you need to look for on your download site, say, for instance, a bay of pirates, has a big green "download" that i don't know what does because i never click it.
i click the bit underneath where it says "click here to download this torrent"
if you have the ability to look at page links, look for the one that ends in .tor

Yeah but searching "other" torrent sites tend to bring up a lot of bullshit stuff that's passworded or just empty data.

I haven't had that problem in a long time. Look for torrents with many positive comments, or with many seeders and leechers. If a torrent is popular then it's usually legit.
