For Chris Birch not only to finish the race at all with a foot like this but to come 4th in a race as hard as Romanics shows determination. 265316

That is sore. I already posted my thoughts on the Romaniac thread, a bit conservative after seeing that.

How can anyone ride with a car in their foot?

But yes big thumbs up to Chris, and all the others, They just make it seem like a quick ride around Riverhead.

Like how do you ride across massive rocks (Erzberg, Karls dinner)? where do you learn shit like that?

Growing up riding trials bikes seems to be the key.

One of Chris's updates from Romaniacs was along the lines of "I think my foot might be broken"... but still came in 4th. No wonder he's reached god like status over there.

That should be the new mark of toughness. (Rugby? Buck who?)

i think the first day would have been bad, (having broken my foot as well in one of the few enduros i ever did, when it stayed in teh boot it was bearable)

but the next day trying to get it into the boot would have been hell,

when i was 15 i was out watching the tarawera 100, (back then they had buses to take you to different parts of the track) and a guy i new stalled in front of us, he asked me to take the bike out of gear for him, as he thought he had broken his ankle and did not have the feeling to find neutral, he still finished the race and got the cast on that night, early the same day Stefan Merriman got a bus ride back after a nasty crash as well,

but i think taping your ball back in to finish a rugby game is just as fucken tough personally,

Agreed, got a bit carried away there but no current playing name sprung to mind to make a reasonable comparison to.

Nathan Friend playing most of a game of league with a broken jaw ;),

I know I read of a guy about 10 years finsihing the aussie safari on a bike with a broken collerbone, which would be impossible to strap up,

there are some tuff mofo's out there for sure,

Personally anyone who enters these extreme comps are "tough" in my books. (That's why you will never find me there). However with regards to pain, the guy who dislocated his hip wins(Playing rugby i think). Unfortunately when it slipped back into its socket, his ball bag had also slipped in........ouch..:(
