Finally got round to pulling the fairing off my RGV250 and notice the bottom end is covered in small cracks causing abit of engine oil to leak :(

Does anyone here have a bottom end they are willing to sell? i would rather it be complete or close to it.
Its a Vj22 but im lead to believe Vj21 engines fit fine and can be stronger.
Not sure of how much im willing to spend but will consider anything.
Thanks

I have a 93P bottom end. Do not know the condition of the crank.

The whole bottom end? or just the crank casing?
Im not sure if i have the know how to swap cranks and gearboxes etc which is why im after something semi complete

Pretty sure it's all there. I stripped the top end and took the inlet manifolds off IIRC. TBH stripping the bottom end is pretty trivial, you'd be fine.

Oh and I robbed the front sprocket cover.

It's a Jap model 45hp model, so it'll have the jap ratio gearbox too... but swapping boxes is also pretty trivial.

Ok cool, PM with how much you are wanting for it and we can go from there. :niceone:

Or swap for one of these :D http://www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=XC4256&keywords=arduino+mega&form=KEYWORD (cause if you have a trade account and can get it cheaper, I'm all good with that)

is yours the one I just bought on trademe? lol..Nah, I generally don't sell bits... it's just he's in Chch, and RGV owner, a 1993 P owner, and in need of a bottom end. If I ever need another, I'll probably just buy a complete SP engine out of Japan so happy to sell this one on.

yea was a different fella I just grabbed an rgv bottom end from. hopefully shipping isnt ridiculous from auck to dunners.

I didnt think about the purchase too hard, but they are the same engine the rgv and rs eh? like I can bolt aprilia sidecovers onto it and cylinders and heads etc and it will be the same?

will see, if its no use to me ill chuck it back on tradies, the fella looking for an rgv bottom end might want it. dont think its an SP version tho.

Yeah, all the same :)

TBH changing crank cases would be a last resort for me as the ones I'm using have had some work that would take a while to replicate.

If your in no hurry to sell that bottom end is it ok to wait 2 weeks to sell it to me? I just started a new job and wont be getting paid for 2 weeks

Sure, I'm in no hurry to sell it... you can never have too many bits in the garage ;-)

Are you sure it's leaking? Sure it's not just shitty Japanese castings that look like cracks? Have you completely stripped your old bottom end yet? Might be worth doing, just for the experience if nothing else. I have a 1/4 and 3/8 torque wrench suitable for these little shitters if you want me to come round one night whilst you torque it all up.

Yeah its dripping oil onto the LH expansion chamber and my garage floor although not alot. I figure for only $150 i might aswell replace it. I havent stripped the engine out yet, i was going to wait till i get new pistons and do a good check over then.

Im 95% sure its cracked, if it was only in one spot i would have probably looked into repairing it but its in quite spots. I will get some pics of it tonight.
