I've got Maxxis cruiser tyres on my Venox and the other evening on the way home in the rain, I went through a turn and the rear tyre skidded a tiny bit.

Now I'd just got on the bike, so tyres were cold, but if they were Michelin or Meztler, would that have stopped the rear skidding even if they were those brands and cold, and of course wet?

Are Maxxis any good anyway? Or are they like Kenda - more or less unknown for (road) motorbikes? I think I heard that Maxxis were makers of off-road tyres and Kenda for push bikes...

they make very good tyres for bicycles.. maxxis off road tyres are really good (used factory on some of the elite expensive bikes like ibis 29ers and stuff).. and kenda make mid range road bike tyres, solid and reliable.

how that relates to their motorbike/car versions I dont know :P

edit: seems they are slow to warm up (at east for the performance tyres)..

Ive got flash tyres and they slide in the rain. Change them once youve worn them out.

Maxxis MTB tyres are ok but old technology. There road bike tyres are nasty.

Maxxis are a brand name of Cheng Shin so no they are not cutting edge but budget oriented
