In the latter part of the first decade of the 21st Century, it became apparent to Harley-Davidson that they needed to expand further outside of their traditional homeland market. So they went to their European customers and asked them what they wanted in a motorcycle.

The result was the XR1200.

So if you want a big, naked machine, with a lot of character, decent brakes and a slightly more sporty but upright riding position, the XR1200 is definitely worth a look as an alternative to the mainstream.

Yup, I'd agree with that tester.. I've followed and ridden with XR's a few times. They do handle quite well (Lindis pas).. and have a reasonably good turn of performance. It's one HD I would own... if they ever import the bloody things here again, and I am in the market for another bike.
The HD Aquilla (V rod) just doesn't 'do it' for me looks wise, even if it is a good performer in the motor dept....
