I love scouring trademe and am often surprised at the low mileage bikes that come up but this'll take some beating.

Unbelievably some one has been sitting on a brand new , never been fully assembled from the crate, Ducati 750 F1 Laguna Seca from 1987.

And only 96 ever made worldwide.

Personally i think it's probably worth a lot more than what's being asked. What do you all think?

and how does someone park up a bike like this for so long.

I'm in shock.

You would think they would at least try to get some decent photos.

They'd get a lot more money selling it in the US or Australia. The NZ market is simply too small to provide a high value for such a rare vehicle.

reality is that a fair chunk of the 96 made were stuck aside as investments as well as all the other investment dukes and there's no shortage of them...

Agreed, but wouldnt you rather keep such a wonderful piece of motorcycling memorabilia in NZ?

Fucking oath, in a museum! If I had it I wouldn't even ride it, wouldn't want to risk binning something like that.

Looks like it was lost at the back of the office .............

I wonder what the VIN chaps will require replacing as it has been sitting so long. Tyres will be crap, maybe brake lines if rubber?

I saw a 1975 750SS go for around the 55K mark the other day, I should have bought that one I was offered for 25K back in the mid nineties

I'm not a big rubber band bike fan but if I was to have one the F1 750 is the one I'd like the most

see, this is where I am torn. ID be terrified of getting a scratch on it if I had something that rare and valuable - but I think its criminal to buy something like that, and never experience riding the fuckin thing. at least once a year a good ride to a show in another city or something.

I dont see the point in owning it if you don't ride it

True, but wouldn't you be pissed off if you binned it? At least with a modern sports bike you can get your insurance to pay out and get another one.

200 made and from a quick google it looks as though a lot were collectables rather than ridden. Slow, mild tune and funny handling as stock.
Don't like your chances of finding good 16inch rubber either.....

The only tyres left for this bike are the one's currently fitted to it, michelin where the last company to make the 130 60 16 and 160 60 16 these bikes take and they haven't made them for at least 10 years. Not much good having a bike that you can't realy ride as you can't replace the tyres when they wear out.

It isn't hard to put other wheels in it so you can run better size rubber if it's going to be used and save the orignals for show days

Tyres in the orignal sizes are manufactured new from http://www.goldentyre.it/

Same as the 750 Passo and a few others and I believe you're right, which explains why there are a few 17inch wheel conversion happening

However, I think this chap is on to something? http://forums.ducatipaso.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5388

The CBR900RR uses a 16" front and there are still tyres available for them, but they're not common.

I think they were a 130/70/16? Would probably squeeze under a Pasa/Laguna Seca gaurd

Some people already use them, they just space the front guard upwards if they need to, a friends was using them on his 851 back in the nineties

i get told that by my friends in japan now the big 2T are going for silly money there.

i prefer to do what god intended when he built it

ride the thing.

I have similar issues with tyres but i just order them in from Japan. They are still making them.

:) Thanks Mental. An important detail. Clearly the shock. Like sli3nt said I can't figure why the pics are so poor. Hopefully he gets good money for it.
