View Full Version : North Island Series 2012/13: Dates for the first 3 rounds
NSR143
4th July 2012, 12:41
Auckland, Mt Wellington, 24th-25th November
Tokoroa, Tokoroa Kart Track, 15th-16th December
Taumarunui, Taumarunui Kart Track, 5th-6th Jan 2013
16 bikes only per class, qualifying at each event.
Qualifying on Saturday afternoon (anyone wanting to qualify on Sunday morning must apply to do so before race weekend and must have a valid reason for doing so) THE AUCKLAND NI RACES MAY BE ON SATURDAY ANYWAY
Noise will be a major point of interest. Don't ask what it should be, just be very fearful yours is quiet enough. I will try to get an idea of what it should be but please just follow the guidelines on my post 'winter exhaust projects'. Auckland might be the only chance to get away with minor issues. (it's not my track so it's up to the AMCC Bucket Officials on the day)
Will update on more rounds as soon as I know.

I thought you were selling up anyway? NI Series is the Premier event... YOU know it.
The Auckland round is 90% likely to be on the Saturday. It has been in the past and the Sunday is pretty full with the two hour, qualifying for it and giving the ring in second riders a chance to learn the track.
The mixed doubles race will probably also be on the Saturday so if you are considering the NI series AK round and have ever thought about getting your significant other on a bike now would be a good time for lessons.

I'll make top 16, he wont :bleh:
I should make top 16 and he was ahead of me at Taupo before I over revved and blew it up

Oh, the old "I would've beaten you, but...." eh..... :p
No, he would have beaten me regardless, should finally have that engine back together in the next month or so.
Just making the top 16 will be noteable. Considering the depth thats out there and the fact the fast Wellingtonians will turn up for more than 1 round this time means its going to be a hotly contested A grade grid.
How many riders did we have at Tokoroa this year, must have been 40+ all up? Numbers must have been similar at Kaitoke.

Just thought I'd confirm that the Auckland round will be on the Saturday of the two hour. Practice in the morning so that the out of towners and ring ins for the two hour can learn their way around followed by racing a bit later in the day, probably kicking off around 12 or 1.
The mixed doubles race will also probably be on the Saturday, on top of this I approached Steve about the possibility of running sidecars at the NI rounds at tracks where we can and he didn't reject the idea out of hand so if you have one or are considering a build now is probably a good time to pull finger, would be good to get that going but if the numbers aren't there will be a non starter.
Gates will open at 9 on both days with practice kicking off after the tracks "no engines before 9:30" rule has expired for the day.

Kaitoke is out at Easter for the foreseeable future.
I'm working on the Back Circuit at Manfeild for a Round as but it's hard to get a date. It'll need COMMITMENT from riders as it's a big expense.

we'll be keen, so long as only need MNZ club license and reasonable pricing.
also need to try not to clash with Auckland rounds, as nearly all the guys running buckets up here are keen on the North Island series. But we don't have dates for that yet, just to make life difficult.

Pity about Kaitoke, they were fantastic meets.
But we'd do the back cct for sure. Erm, but what about Noise? It wouldn't be on a whisper quiet day surely?

Manfield back track would be good for your bike for sure. Little more open. Also not a track many people are familiar with so no real home advantage for anyone. Do it do it.

Some of us are familiar (those of us around when Tim Gibbs & Suzuki winter series, let us on the back track)... Some of us have a very intimate knowledge :facepalm:
But; yes its not too bad to the old buckets, enough corners (all flat) to make things remotely interesting; but lacking in significant depth and complexity like welly and/or even taupo...
and, shit it would be great not to travel....:woohoo:

they'll be gone by sat morning. F'ing predictive text and not noticing it had changed the word lol. Trust you to pick up on that, but won't have time to bake due to work commitments and drinking time. Hehehe but if you're coming on Sunday, maybe I should do a bit of baking Saturday night, so long as you actually turn up and ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And thanks to the good work of Mr Skunk...... Saturday 16th Feb for Round 4 North Island Series it is at the Back Track at Manfeild.
Sorry One day only due to difficulty in getting a booking. It will be a busy day getting practice, quailifying and races on the day. VMCC track day on the main track the day after.
Yes this is the same weekend as Paeroa, but they don't have a bucket class ay....
Easy drive home on Sunday with plenty of time to stop for a chuck for those travelling distance...

NZ Bucket Sidecar GP?????
Maybe that might stimulate a few more Chairs to be Built/Found/dug out..... How many do you need to be classified as a field 5-6??

Trouble with any 'GP' titles is they require the full twice the price licence. This may put a few off. Sidecars welcome as part of any North Island Series if the numbers are good.. six would be an ideal minimum. (I should instigate the provisio that the first race for each class at each meeting must entail at least 6 competitors for points to be allocated to that meeting).
That said... ANY sidecars should come along just for the spin if they wish.

True; forgot about the new licence $$ and national titles...
I'm sure with 4 months we can get 6 chairs???
Mods;
can this be made a sticky??? (maybe un-stick last years one??)...

Was talking to a couple of people about the GP and licences over the weekend.
If the expensive licence is required I think the feild will shrink in a big way, the guys in with a chance will still turn up but a lot of the also rans like myself who are only in it for shits and giggles would stay home.

I think that we need to ask MNZ if they can wave this for the GP. It being the only national event on the caleader and all. I am sure any club that would want 50 extra bikes at there event would support it. Good money in bucket entries if everyone can play.

It will be an interesting time ahead across all national/island championship classes & codes - except Trials and ATV as the licence for these two codes remain unchanged. As already said, those up the pointy end will be there, as for the ones as Henk said, the also rans that make up the feild, how many turn up shall be interesting. Who wrote in when the chance was there? I know I did and will now be watching from the sidelines.

It's a more than four round series, the last round or few just haven't been nailed down yet.
Why do you care anyway, didn't you sell your bike?

11.2.1 All ATV’s used in MNZ sanctioned events must be constructed such that the rider sits astride a motorcycle type frame and controls the machine using a handlebar, and has a motorcycle engine and a maximum dry weight of 350kgs
But they still aren't motorcycles.

Why would he not run it one reserve, unless he felt like carrying a couple of extra liters of fuel around as ballast?
