I've never thought of the Trophy as a two up tourer - we have alternatives for that.

We had been invited to Greytown with the Triumph riders and had not really thought about riding the Trophy to it because we didn't think we could carry enough kit. Besides, its winter and the forcast was dire and we are too old to care much about proving points and getting wet so we were going to drive...

Saturday dawned warm and sunny....

We should take the bike.... "nope - it needs an oil change" - Supercheaps got a sale on... Drat... We can fit an luggage.... Oh - apprently we can..... Um - we eventually ran out of excuses NOT to take the bike so a very quick oild cange, pack up our shit and left Kapiti around 4pm...

Cool but wonderful trip over the hills....

Ate and drank FAR too much....

Caught up with Jim2 and shared the road home - it was very cold and rather damp but not really wet. Had a stonking romp over the paekakareki Hill road and home for lunch - wonderful!!!

Good on ya Paul, they do two up suprisingly well even with lugage. I had a frame made up so i could use a Ventura rack on my old Trophy. Next trick is to look at fabricating some of them classic style curved paniers.

I'm always staggered how much smoother it goes with a bit of weight aboard. If there was a single improvement to be made it would be a 5 speed box. Diving 2nd to 3rd is a pain. it has always hd one odd thing though - it vibrates a lot more on the over run... Never figured out why or worried about it much.

Shes got a few miles under the belt since the last engine rebuild now so I guess I'd better treat it to a new primary chain soon. We think we will do the TOMCC 20th rally 2013. Normally we wouldnt 2 up so far on the trophy but its been a peach the last few years so why not.

Vibration on overrun - resonating through the exhaust?

Come to think of it (well you did not me).... That actually makes sense.... The high level pipes are a bit hefty and oddly mounted.

Dang....

Gosh that is a nice looking bike

We have always thought so too. Best of all its a very happy looking bike and no one ever feels threatened or annoyed by it. We have met some nice people and made some good friends simply by riding it.
