Raptor 50

well... a mate of Dads loaned us his Yamaha Raptor 50, but I'm guttered it wont start.
The battery is stable at 14.1V but the solanoid for the starter just clicks, connections are all good but the spark looks week... what could this be? I'm so hanging to take it for a spin :devil2:

wow. you sure look young in that pic.

clickey starter = starter problem.

weak spark won't help, but starter needs to be throwing the piston over in the first place...

if it has gears then crash start the bitch.

if it doesn't... new/rebuild starter/solenoid.

Hey well I had a look at this thing for the kid today, buggered if I know... can a reg/rec give these issues, other wise Im thinking the starter is rooted and absorbing to much current?
To my suprise this bike being a single speed auto set up it can be push started, fired up straight away and every time I tried, yet as said on the starter motor it bearly turns over with a week spark even tho showing 13V...

starters don't "absorb" current. with the given voltages your battery is OK. check it running for ~14v, this will indicate regulator is good.

i say starter, potentially one brush has gone, giving weak cranking. if you're keen, tear it down, check windings, check brushes. check the throwout/clutch on it - moves freely and returns properly etc.

it's probably easier to get replacement bolt-in unit though.
