View Full Version : The new ride, PhatGirl's replacement! (thanks to caseye & Rob)

Its been a year since I was hit by that drunk 4x4 driving bastard!

The shattered shoulder has recovered as best as it can, My beautiful Guzzi (PhatGirl) has gone to a great new home due to my injuries preventing me from riding her, and the "fill-in" cruiser "MAC" did its job as a recovery/rest vehicle (comfy ride it twas )
But the cruiser just wasn't...me! :oi-grr:

But I couldn't find anything that I "wanted"...a bike that I had always thought "Im gonna get one of those oneday"
...then I saw an ad in trademe that made me think...yeah!...you don't see many of those for sale anymore...and its a bike I have always wanted:drool::yes:
...and it was being advertised by someone with a name that looked very familiar.

I made an offer of a straight swap...much to the shock of my friends and missus! (They thought I was crazy!...and giving away money...pffft!)
And as I thought, the advertiser turned out to be a fellow KB member :2thumbsup, who was selling on behalf.

The bike actually belonged to a mate of his -Rob
Rob had broken his back over 2yrs ago, and as a result, he couldnt ride the bike for more than 5mins before the pain set in (Knew what that felt like!)
Told caseye, I was dead serious about a swap, and that I had always wanted one, plus the cruiser would get Rob back on the road and riding again...its a lounge suit on wheels!
Rob was instantly keen (Man can spot a good deal lol)...but he wasn't convinced that I was serious due to the bike I was offering (worth a bit more)
Assured him that I was dead serious, and that I go to work to make money...not sell bikes! (besides, cruiser only owed me $5700...may be worth more..but thats all it owed me), and this way, I get a bike Ive always wanted, and he gets back on two wheels :woohoo: (win win)
So after many weeks of sorting bike transport and pestering poor ol caseye for details and photos etc, the deal was struck and the bikes where swaped.

Im happy to report, Rob...is back on two wheels!:woohoo: and a very very happy man

Ive just spent an entire weekend in the shed stripping, cleaning, tuning and rolling in grease mmmmm, and now have my new baby purring, hell, I even got the old scoots oiler working perfectly and managed to fix a PCB electrical fault in the dash (nothing major)
And now, the new bike is just perfect!...sporty yet comfy (shoulder can handle it fine), lots of usable power and it handles like a razor!...this thing lives up to its many titles! "bike of the year" / "best sport tourer" etc etc

In fact...Im so happy, that I had to share with you looneys

So a huge thank you goes out to caseye (and Rob) for putting up with my hounding, emails and phone calls over the many weeks, and for helping to organise the swap and ensuring that all parties are happy....I hope the cruiser serves Rob well and he is still as happy as I am.

Here's my PhatGirls replacement...see you on the road;)

Ride safe KBers:love:

Cheers all, I still miss my Guzzi, but the shoulder just won't allow me ride bikes with clippons THAT low anymore lol...this one is super comfy and ticks all the right boxes

Rob is such a nice guy! (Knew that after speaking to him the first time), I felt so sorry for him not being able to ride due to injury, hence Im soooo happy he is back on two wheels again and enjoying the cruiser :woohoo: (a damn good bike that one (really well made!)...but I was wearing it out on the corners :killingme...Im just not suited for cruiser ownership)

Shit Willy, I'm for it now.Murray is gunna set Trina onto me and i'm scared as.
Glad you both came out with something that you wanted and happy to have been of service.
Walking without too much pain these days and about ready to swing a leg,( Na , you lot, Over a bike seat) SOON. So one of these days I reckon a reunion is in order, what say you mainlander?
The Robman has reported back that the 1600 is just the shiz and can't stop riding it here and there, seen him twice in a week, unheard of usually.
Hey wheres the hand grips, she does look a fine piece of kit Willy, already a credit to you, be very careful getting to know her, please mate, shes a rocket ship, I know, I've made the speedo do unimaginable things on the old "coal burner" trying to keep up on the odd occasion. An shes no slouch for an old girl.
Soon as the cruiser comes home form the Refresh I'll get Rob to post up some pics for you to see.
Ha, by the way, I didn't get em.
Boo Hoo.
They look too good on the big girl and he loves em there, so, say la vie.

PS: Glad to see you're out of the sack and right into a rideable ( for you) MOTOR!
Hope Winter and mum are doing good and keeping you! awake all night.

LOL, yeah sorry about "Murrays revenge" :sweatdrop (may he be gentle)

I had a feeling that Rob wouldn't let the panniers go lol, got them just for that bike, and they look truly awesome on it
So glad to hear Rob is enjoying his new ride mate, it really makes me happy that another biker has got back on two wheels after an injury like that
Glad to hear your nearly all healed up and ready to ride:woohoo:...And yes!, I would be dead keen to catch up some time.

Yup the VFRs got some go alright, but its very well setup (can tell someone spent some serious coin on her and loved the hell out of it)and now that everythings been checked, greased and tuned etc, its just a pleasure to ride everyday...no need to worry about the self control mate, the VFR is just being pampered and ridden at nice safe speeds (two babys to think of nowdays...hence the "speed madness" has all but gone due to lack of sleep and responcibilties lol)

Thank you again for all your time and effort mate, please send my best to Rob and assure him that his VFR is being spoilt rotten and put to good use everyday...in fact....bugger it!...its just rained!...and Ive only put 3 coats of polish on so far...damnit!, guess I will have to clean her again  lol

Cheers caseye, Ride safe mate

That's what I like seeing, selling the station wagon for something that can really put a smile on your face. It looks awesome, bet it sounds and handles awesome - it's inherently awesome, it's a sportbike.

Great to see you back online mate :niceone:
Hope your doing well and the recovery is progressing well  (Hope your back up and riding again...safely)

Cheers, I'm loving the 750 (It certainly lives up to its many awards of "bike of the year","Best sport tourer" etc....its a great all rounder!)
I had a NC30 many many years ago, and really liked it...hence I have always loved the V4 hondas, but the 94-97 RC36 is the model I have always wanted (cos I cant afford a RC30 or RC45 or NR750! mmmmmm:drool:....damnit...common lotto! lol)

Its good to hear from ya Grant, stay well mate :niceone:
