Its been a year since I was hit by that drunk 4x4 driving bastard!
The shattered shoulder has recovered as best as it can, My beautiful Guzzi (PhatGirl) has gone to a great new home due to my injuries preventing me from riding her, and the "fill-in" cruiser "MAC" did its job as a recovery/rest vehicle (comfy ride it twas )
But the cruiser just wasn't...me! :oi-grr:
But I couldn't find anything that I "wanted"...a bike that I had always thought "Im gonna get one of those oneday"
...then I saw an ad in trademe that made me think...yeah!...you don't see many of those for sale anymore...and its a bike I have always wanted:drool::yes:
...and it was being advertised by someone with a name that looked very familiar.
I made an offer of a straight swap...much to the shock of my friends and missus! (They thought I was crazy!...and giving away money...pffft!)
And as I thought, the advertiser turned out to be a fellow KB member :2thumbsup, who was selling on behalf.
The bike actually belonged to a mate of his -Rob
Rob had broken his back over 2yrs ago, and as a result, he couldnt ride the bike for more than 5mins before the pain set in (Knew what that felt like!)
Told caseye, I was dead serious about a swap, and that I had always wanted one, plus the cruiser would get Rob back on the road and riding again...its a lounge suit on wheels!
Rob was instantly keen (Man can spot a good deal lol)...but he wasn't convinced that I was serious due to the bike I was offering (worth a bit more)
Assured him that I was dead serious, and that I go to work to make money...not sell bikes! (besides, cruiser only owed me $5700...may be worth more..but thats all it owed me), and this way, I get a bike Ive always wanted, and he gets back on two wheels :woohoo: (win win)
So after many weeks of sorting bike transport and pestering poor ol caseye for details and photos etc, the deal was struck and the bikes where swaped.
Im happy to report, Rob...is back on two wheels!:woohoo: and a very very happy man
Ive just spent an entire weekend in the shed stripping, cleaning, tuning and rolling in grease mmmmm, and now have my new baby purring, hell, I even got the old scoots oiler working perfectly and managed to fix a PCB electrical fault in the dash (nothing major)
And now, the new bike is just perfect!...sporty yet comfy (shoulder can handle it fine), lots of usable power and it handles like a razor!...this thing lives up to its many titles! "bike of the year" / "best sport tourer" etc etc
In fact...Im so happy, that I had to share with you looneys
So a huge thank you goes out to caseye (and Rob) for putting up with my hounding, emails and phone calls over the many weeks, and for helping to organise the swap and ensuring that all parties are happy....I hope the cruiser serves Rob well and he is still as happy as I am.
Here's my PhatGirls replacement...see you on the road;)
