Hi All

I'm trying to find a HONDA CBR 600 F4i to buy (important: F4i model). I don't really care much about the year, cosmetics or mileage; but it must be mechanically sound and able to get WOF and REGO.

I only have around 4-5k to spend, but please contact me if you want to sell one of these; maybe we can negotiate something.
I'm based in Auckland (no judging! :-)) but am able to travel to view.

Please contact me on 021 296 2266 (not sure if this number will display in the ad), else PM me.

Thanks
Trosbos

i = injected right?...
Heres an F4 at the money you are looking to spend. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-494554399.htm

Yip, the i is for injected. The previous CBR 600's were all carbed up to this point.
The fuel injection is a must have, so I might have to stump up a bit more cash.

Why so crucial to have fuel injection? The carbed ones were still good bikes.

Very true, all CBR's are brilliant and I've had a soft spot for them since the F2.
I want to turn it into a stunter, and the injection will help with high end / slow wheelies, assuming I ever get the balls to go all the way! Right now I certainly don't know what I'm doing, and I don't want to practice on the Monster. I'll also only ride the bike about once a month, and don't want carb foul issues.

The F4i is only about $500 more than the F4, so I'd rather lay out the extra $$ and get the later model. What I don't want is to invest a chunk of money in a stunter, and then learn after 6 months / a year that the carbs are a hurdle, and then I have to start building another bike.

The other benefit (to the KB community) is:
This whole stunting thing might scare the tits off me, hence there might soon be a freshly built F4i stunter for sale right here on KB :-)

There was a stunter on tm about 6 months ago...also a race one, and an ozzy 450. I would cry if you did that to a stock standard f4i:-P The last one on trademe sat unsold for 5500/6k (I reckon way too much though). The F4i looks a lot sharper than the f4, more like the rr but with the nicer riding position of the F

Good point about the looks and comfort of the F4i. I always thought that after stunting it I could just put the fairings back, and clean it up. But it's probably gonna be pretty much wrecked, right? After these few convo's above I'm leaning more and more towards the F4 or F3 even. Older, cheaper, less heartache when it gets damaged. Thanks for your input.

That sounds like a better option to me. I can't imagine the carbs being a big deal for a novice playing around.

Heh. I have a f2 that is all f3 except for the frame, carbs airbox and brakes :-) here's an idea...if you can find an f4i for that money, Ill buy it and you can buy my f2/3;-)

For stunting personally I don't see any benefit to getting an f4. The only thing that got better was the suspension and the looks, engine was the same as 98 f3 which I have in my f2. Carbs gained weight 95 and up with cooling but gained top end power with induction circuit.

Hey cheers for this. I contacted the seller, but he says the bike is race ready and not worth making it road worthy. I'm keeping my eye on a couple of F2's at 3k, on TM. Maybe that's the route I'll have to take.

I'd offer you my f2/f3 bike but there aren't any f4i's up or anything else I like the look of for commuting :-P

Thanks, I'll text you hopefully tomorrow (Tue) during a sane hour. I assume it's you showing interest in this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=497560854

I bid on it when it was listed previously, but did not meet reserve ($3850).

Do you work during the day, when's a good time to come have a look at your bike. I'm also interested in this, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=498715601&permanent=0 but would prefer not to have to travel to Palmy if I can help it.

Cheers - 021 296 2266.

I know this thread's been quiet (dead), but thanks to all for the advice and offers.
I ended up buying IceMaestro's F2. Runs well and I'm waiting for the cage and other bits to arrive from the States, then I'll get AJ to fit it all for me. (Shameless plug: AJ, from Motohaus underneath MotoMail in Ponsonby, is a cool guy and he knows his stuff).

If anyone is still attempting/succeeding at stuting; or knows a good place to go practice, please PM me.
Cheers
