So who here has done a journey that was physically uncomfortable, and what size rider/bike?

I'll go first, 84 VT250F2, 1.8m rider, 100km between stretch stops. Was it worth the fun to be had on such a nimble bike through the twisties at the end of it, hell yes! Glad to be on a bigger (though not by much) bike now though.

Rode a 39cc Chinese dirt bike, and I'm nearly 2m tall. I ended up putting my arms underneath my knees while riding it, as that was the most comfortable.

My most uncomfortable in my limited ridng experience so far has been 250cc sports/road bikes. Cramped legs and craned neck just don't do it for me...

every time i braked, slowed down or went down hill he crushed my balls into the tank

Pillioned on an 883 Sporty from Warkworth to Paeroa return for the BOT many years ago. The Sporty was fitted out with a "bitch pad" instead of something a pillion would want to spend a few hours sitting on. By the time we were half way home I could not feel my feet on the pegs or my poor bum on the seat. I was simply in a world of pain. Actually made him stop in Orewa (1/2 hour or so to home) and told him I was walking the rest of the way LOL.

Those things have a board for a seat. Made of teak I think.

Try 1400 odd Kms (Hamilton to top of Cape Reianga and back) in 2 days on a DR650. Gives new meaning to wooden plank seat

I got this!

Rode a nifty50 with a damaged seat from Palmy to Newplymouth and back again, just cos a mate dared me too (I had to drop off a tent to another mate & my GPZ900 was being rebuilt at the time) only stopping for petrol, then turned around....and rode straight back :gob:

....the nifty50 died just as I rode back into palmy :killingme (burnt a hole through the piston, easy fix)

FXR150 10hr trip to Auckland (Yea I know 1st mistake was going to Auckland 2nd mistake was taking the "scenic route") think I'm 5'11"??? don't measure, my bikes don't have a height requirement to ride.

On the upside round trip only cost me about 35$ I believe (petrol was round $1.40 region at the time)

Surprisingly for me Triumph Scrambler.

If you are taller, no problem, but a shortarse has a very close relatioship of right thigh to exhaust pipe: worst in traffic. Also the stock seat was appalling: looked nice but square edged dig into your legs and instead of foam they use depleted uranium. The accessory gel seat was way better but still had the "square edge" issue.

If you are taller than a gnome then you wont have those issues.

My wee little Bandit has a pretty comfy seat.

Except for this one time I went out for a shakedown run after fitting a new fairing, by the time I stopped in Paeroa my arse was in absolute agony... then I jumped off the bike and a 14mm spanner fell out of my back pocket.

As a crusier rider, that's my biggest gripe. Most of them have a rider seat that resembles a lazyboy rocker, then provide a pillion seat that resembles a sanitary pad (without the proverbial wings).

I suppose this is my most uncomfortable. Just put 5mm seat foam over the fibreglass tail, low bars, high-ish pegs, hard suspension, so padding. But, it's not too bad really.

RGV150 up h/w 16. Fun for a novice, but very painfull for someone nearly 1.9m tall. The GZ wasnt much better up to Urititi, the worst part was riding home after sleeping on uneven ground. Really need to get a bigger bike more suited to my size. Really need to get onto my full too.

In the 80's i sent the apprentice out on an NH80 Honda scoot, to double a rather large, (read 130kg+)woman back to the workshop, whose own bike had shit itself about 35km away.
We, the whole bike shop saw him at the intersection across the road, prior to entering the establishment.

XV535, picked it up brand new in London and rode it to Birmingham. After 20 miles my bum had gone numb, 20 more my feet and legs were in agony and every tiny bump the back end went over shot splinters of pain up my spine.

An agonising first ride but I have to say it was fun to ride on short blats on smooth roads, great little engine but the ergos were chronic for me,

Ha ha! I'm old and bony. Funny thing was the fabric on the seat of the Tuono looked stretched like a drum, I even tapped it with my finger since I thought the seat was solid. Apart from that (and the price) it's a nice bike.

Try the tt2000 on a C50 stepthrough, the left hand side footpeg broke off 6 hours into the ride, so I had to try many different seating arrangement, each one a little less comfatable than the last.

my first bike - Yamaha XS 250, unaffectionately known as the slug. I'm 6 foot. Bike was way too small for me but I put up with it for six months commuting and doing a number of longer trips between Palmerston North where I was at university and Tauranga which was home at the time.

Hayabusa Gen 2. Took a quick trip from Nelson to Ch Ch recently via Murchison and the Lewis Pass , the high pegs and the forward stretch to the bars had my legs crying out and my wrists started to get a little sore too, after about 90 min. The seat is actually very comfortable, in spite of it being hard and minimalistic looking when you first plant your butt down.

The big motor always makes up for it though , Holy smoke

Ok for the Dr650 the 150 x 50 seat is ridiculous. 20mins max sit time. Typical ride before repadding was Lower Hutt to top of rimutakas stop in agony-wait 10 minutes and carry on to Featherston-stop for 10 minutes and then go home because the torture was tooooo much!!!! Wih it repadded can do a tank full {2 hours} at a pinch.

I only had problems on one when 2up, simply because I couldn't move around. Found we needed a leg stretch after 150km, but then it was a bit crunched up for me as well.

Found my ZX7R fine? There are far more agressive bikes...

I sat on the Aprlilla V4 Tuono at Emoto recently, seat is like a plank of wood!
Worse, I rode a Tuono, the tank being plastic, there's bugger all grip and you slide around like crazy.

Worst for me was an Aprilia SXV550. I rode it around town a bit then down the motorway. About 10min into the motorway section, my arse hurt and it never got better. Still, it was a good test, I hated the seat and hated the range of about 100km before reserve. Didn't buy one

Pillion on a Suzuki GS750ES

Doing a trip round the SI with a mate in the 80's, me on my Katana, him on this thing. We overnighted in CHCH and went out on the piss with a bloke we met there and one thing led to another and I arsed off. Landed on my shoulder and then leapt up and dragged the Katana over to the side of the road.

Net result was a broken collarbone - my bike was fine. For some reason we decided to carry on with me on the back of my mates bike, the aforementioned GS750. Now I'm 1.8m and 110kg+ and he was an average sized bloke plus we both had all our gear and bags and packs and shit. It was bloody torture, especially as my balance was for shit cos my arm was in a sling (which inspired a few odd looks from folks as we rolled along with 1 sleeve flapping wildly on my jacket...). Coming up the Kilmog was something I'll never forget.

Next day I decided "fuck this", whipped off the sling, caught a bus back to CHCH, picked up the Kat and went back to Dunedin and we carried on. The shoulder aches a bit in the cold now but it was worth it not to go another metre on the back of that piece of shit.

First and last time I ever pillioned

My old 1098s and the current 1198s are two pretty uncomfortable bikes at road legal speeds, above 140kph they are great, the small tank is an issue but also a great reason to stop and stretch every 140-160 Kim's.
