How did that crash happen? I heard scraping, but a ZX10R should be able to lean a lot more than that.

He freaked and let go of the throttle, the throttle closed and the bike laid down. Is short he out rode his ability not the bikes.

Yup, to my mind a tad hot in, a tad too tight in the corner & having to use a closed or neutral throttle, either way no drive, front loads, tarmac git's a slappin, he sits up on the bike & makes the situation worse.

if you look at 0.54s he has a reasonable lean on, I think his peg or toe touched down, he gave himself a fright, let go of the throttle to put his hand down from panic and closed the throttle sealing the deal.:eek5:

Moral of the story: never back off the throttle while cornering. It's something that I've been guilty of too many times.

His rear wheel starts to slide out. I think that's why he eases off the throtle. Where he first disappears from view it almost seems as if he's got it under control though upright, but them he spears off onto the inside of the curve.

Yup, a good indication of testicular fortitude. Look were you want to go & keep the gas on. Trick is to go into a turn at the right speed in the first place.
The throttle is your friend has become a bit of a Mantra in our house, admittedly the combined horsepowers of our bikes is way less than that chaps Kwaka.

Another good reason to control with the inside arm, and leave the outside loose.

I find, backing off in a corner is a result of failure to plan the corner; so you've fucked up whether you close the throttle or not.

Poor technique firstly.
secondly, his peg scraped - the peg scraping had nothing to do with the accident, when the peg touched, he got scared, and took his hand off the inside bar, but still had pressure on the outside bar, this caused the front to go all wobbly, before tucking, momentarily lowsiding, over correcting into the scrub on the roadside, and eventually dropping it.
If his hands had stayed on the bars, he would have been sweet as.

At about 21 sec he appears to be pulling on the inside bar before anything touches. Something from his foot back (peg maybe)
scrapes and rest is as viewed

Looks to me like he ran out of ground clearance. You can hear a scraping noise just before hand. You then see a puff of smoke come from the rear tyre (presumably as it gets lifted up and looses grip). The bike goes to tip in as a result, and I guess just like a human does when they fall in, he put his hand out to "hold up" the bike.
It then looks like the bike slowed down, and the weight came back onto the tyres as the bike stood up (which is what happens when you dump speed in a corner), regained grip, but by then he had lost control.

Such a bizarre reaction though, to put your hand down. Don't think my instincts would have ever driven me to do that in that circumstance.
Well that is something that I have never done, taken my hand off the throttle:nono:
But I have had to override my instincts at times and twist the throttle a little bit more (doesn't need much)
Takes a lot of guts to twist it. And not balls, as I don't have any

I have a theory.
I think the front end went and he thought it was going for a low side so he bailed but it grabed and regained sending the back around. At that stage his hand was already off ready for a fall. More by instinct.

I have a theory too-he did not have a clue what was going on, nor how to respond....
