Hey All,

I have been hunting the net for good quality bike audio communications for a while now, and I have come across a system that is made in the UK.

It is a high quality set that runs off your bikes power, or battery, that has many options you can choose.
You can be sole rider with music, cellphone, radar etc
Rider to pillion intercom, at basically ANY speed you can hear two way conversation, along with the above options too. The noise filtering is amazing.
Rider to rider intercom, bike to bike over radio, with above options too.

They are fully customisable - any set of options are available by the looks of it. You can get one headset, or two, phone plugs, music input plugs, radio with ptt and vox, all sorts.

Features include:
Auto volume level: Automatically adjusts the volume to compensate for background/wind noise.
VOX: Voice operated transmit for mobile radio use, just talk to transmit. VOX mutes the music, simply speak to silence the music for 5 seconds.
Noise reduction: Noise in bike communication can be a big problem especially at speed. Our kits incorporate noise reducing microphones and two stages of active noise filtering using the latest technology.
Intelligent source selection: Gives priority to the phone and radio. If the phone rings or a radio message is received the music will be muted.
Helmet plug power On/Off: Plug in Headset1 to turn ON and unplug to turn OFF. The unit can be installed out of sight eg. under the seat. Just plug in the helmet and ride.

Basically I am posting this as I am thinking about importing a set - and I have talked with the owner of the company, and he is keen for a discount with a bulk purchase.
Im just wondering who would be interested in such a kit.

The website is www.starcom1.com/starcom1.htm
or the homepage (www.starcom1.com) has lots of info too.

If you like what you see, let me know, as we can save quite a bit of money with the discount, and of course with shipping costs.

Post a message back on here if you have questions - most of the tech info is on the site though, so it will pay to look there first.

The BASE prices without the discount are this:
Sole Rider: 129.98 POUNDS
Rider and Pillion: 159.97
Bike to Bike: 175.97

Plus there are all the accessory cables and option too. Those are just the 3 main kits. Price list is here (http://www.starcom1.com/price_list.htm)

Remember, the discount is not included in that price. I dont know what the discount is yet, I will ask once I know if anyone is interested.

Thanks for reading

I have owned three intercoms. two were total crap and a waste of me hard earned $$$$'s

Now I got a Baehr one and am a very happy man.

yeah the Baehr ones are a little more expensive but ya get what ya pay for.

bit like the guy with the HD that came up to me and asked where a nice restaurant was, I said if ya rode a BMW I could point ya in the right direction, but since ya got a Harley ya better go to McDs.

lol.

Yeah I have owned two now. Got one that has been advertised on Kiwibiker before, not that great over 90km/h, starts chopping out etc.
I am an electronics student, final year, and have just made one myself, an improvement of the one I brought - still nothing to the standard of the one you have, or that UK one. Basically came to the conclusion that someone else has spend alot of money on R&D, and it works. Found out the cheap one I have wasnt even made by the guy, or designed by him - just a standard taiwan amplifier thing - I open it up and found the circuitry to be identical to a el cheapo from Dick Smith - quite funny.

Just thought I would share what I have found to others, esp with the discount. I wont be touching the incomming units or getting any money out of this - money will be paid direct to them - we would just save money on shipping, plus some bulk discount. I would say its of similar quality to the baehr ones - but one model can be upgraded to any other model, unlike the baehr one. Like you can buy just a single riders, then get another headset later, then get a radio plug later too, etc.

Just thought some people may be interested.

We brought in some Nady units at AMPS to evaluate them. They were crap, two faulty transceivers in a row. We went to Baehr after that. The new Cop Beemers use them now. Tested at 200 km/h and clear as a bell.
I wouldn't recommend any intercom system unless I tried it first, they all sound great on paper.

Jesus christ their website makes me cringe.

Big Dave go sell those challenge motors folks a decent website, or at least one that doesnt scream "mid 90's amature homepage".

Oh the humanity.

The Baehr ones start at $585 and go up to $2k
The Starcom ones start at 129 UK pounds

The difference between the Starcom one and the Baehr one is the Starcom unit is used for each model - so if you buy the expensive package, or the cheap package, the base unit is the same - and you can buy accessories later if you want to make it up to the expensive package. Starcom ones have a whole range of testamonials on their site - it is not a cheap and nasty unit at all - I would say the quality is similar or the same as the Baehr one - the price is lower. The price according to customers should be higher, as the system is so good - the Baehr ones are highly prices as they are good units. The Starcom ones have just not been heard of over here much yet, huge brand in UK.

The Baehr one has a range of packages, so if you buy the basic one and find you want another feature, you cant easily upgrade without buying a whole new unit - but the quality is amazing.

Im thinking of getting one of the Starcom ones - yes I am only basing it on the website and testimonials and other websites, but the units are excellent and a huge range of features.
If anyone is wanting to get one, we will get a discount, and you will get cheaper freight as it will be shared - just a thought.

Most people buying Baehr go for the Basic or Basic plus @ $785.00 inc. Basic has auxiliary input for music, detector etc.
The Basic plus allows upgrading to bike - bike communication.
The higher spec models allow prioritising of cellphone, detector, Sat Nav as well as speech and bike - bike comms. Plus a trillion other features I won't list.
It must be great where there's no corners.

Yeah.
The Starcom1 has all of those things of the top model Baehr

I am sure the Starcom would be very similar to the Baehr, apart from the price is no where near as high.
