K & N air filter kits

I'm looking to upgrade my air filter. From what I can tell, a K & N 63-1125 is the right part for my 2003 FXDXT? Anyone else have an opinion?

Does "upgrade" mean let more air into the carb ... or cheaper ... ??

More air through it may mean re-jetting is required.

Cheaper is good if it is as good as the original (and fits in the same place) .... and easier to source.

K&N filters have slightly less resistance to air passing through them, but for all practical purposes they make little difference to performance except when at close to full throttle. They are more expensive than OEM filters, but their big advantage is that they are cleanable rather than replaceable.

I used a similar DNA filter in the VStrom and it certainly reduced the cost at each service.

I have two original type of paper filters for my FJ, that I send to get cleaned in Dunedin (The filter not the FJ). As time comes for the filter comes to be needing cleaned ... I just swap it over with the clean one ... and send the dirty one to be cleaned.
$10.00 to get it cleaned. $5.00 back in the courier.

Yup.
Unless it's an oiled type, but they get clogged and then flow less anyway.
I have a K&N foam element in the 600 and a uni foam one too, can't tell the difference by bum dyno when clean.
The biggest advantage to a foam filter is ease of cleaning though.

Your part number doesn't say FXDXT on the list of bikes you can fit it to, but a quick email to K&N would sort that, or send crasherfromwayback on here a PM, I imagine he can help you
