Basically if you ace the 6Restricted, you should have no problems with the 6Full - unless you're taking it after October when both tests become a lot longer and tougher, especially the 6R.

Watch out tricky situations which you must slow down for ... school buses etc (I failed 35 years ago for going over a railway line in town too fast.)

Done mine about about 6 weeks ago. Don't be late.
Just relax, take your time, exaggerate your head movements, make sure you can hear him/her through the earpiece clearly.
It's a piece of piss really.

I passed my 6F in Hamilton last Friday and I remember my 6R 6months ago (being over 25yo) was much harder. Practice U turns without foot down, both feet down at stop lights, watch your speed (I had the wife follow me during practice to ensure speed was right), remember the new give way laws (top of the t etc), and do a brush up on the speed limits such as how many km's when passing a school bus - a lot of people i talked too got that wrong.

Get your eyes checked before the day and do a once over on the bike - wof, reg, blinkers, lights, horn, brake lights, tyre tread.

I wore a hiviz jacket for "points" - 10$ from the warehouse.

If u were in hamilton I could go the route, from what I remember.

Slightly off topic but how are you supposed to know how long you have had your learners/restricted for? my license only gives the date i got my class 1 in 2006.

I was wondering this too. I was just gonna call someone to find out, but it does seem a bit stupid it isn't listed on your license if you have class 1.

I suppose i could check the date on my basic handling test certificate but if i didnt have that i would have no idea when i sat it.

I got told off for not using the foot brake while stopped at stop signs. Was pretty confusing because others have said they got in trouble for not having both feet on the ground.

That's dumb... Unless you're on a slope and in danger of rolling backwards, you don't have to have your foot on the rear brake.

But maybe you didn't use your front brake either, so no brake light was noticed, which to the tester was not a complete stop?

I stressed about the tests but in the end the key was to just relax. Was just like going for a nice Sunday ride. I chose the 3pm timeslot as a challenge and it was great. So much traffic there was no way I could have been speeding :)

You MUST come to a COMPLETE stop at a stop sign, otherwise you'll fail the test. I suggest you stay stopped for a at least 3 seconds, and put both feet down on the ground so the testing officer can't really accuse you of rolling through without stopping. You should also exaggerate your head movements when going past intersections so it's completely obvious that you're scanning for hazards as the testing officer can't see your eye movements.

Make obvious head movements when you check your mirrors, both sides at least every 30 secs. When you pull out or change lanes emphasise that you look over your shoulder, turn your head well to the side and take a little longer to determine if the blind spot is clear.

When you do the stretch of street where you have to remember the hazards, say that the car behind you (the examiner) was a potential hazard. All driveways where there is a fence or hedge are a hazard, identify if there were parked cars but you had determined that they had no driver in them so their hazard potential was reduced to that of being a visual impairment of someone who might step out in front of you.

A wheelie will earn bonus marks too...

Yes. In fact, better to be at 1st gear when you're stopped so you can go as soon as safe to do so, rather than wasting time. Also gives you ability to get out of the way of any oncoming danger, rather than just sitting there in neutral like a lame duck.
