I'm wondering how far down it goes. Will it ride up when you lean forward and make you freezing?
I know that some ladies jackets are cropped/shorter for style.

That jacket comes with an "8 inch trouser connector", so you will be able to zip them to your pants. Just need someone with some sewing skills to get the zip onto your pants and/or buy 1tonne pants to match ;) SHOPPING!!!!

I'm getting Kevlar Jeans cause I want something that could double as workwear on Casual Fridays, so I guess I'll just get zip put in the top of them! Could prob put the zip on the inside of the waistband so it's not too obvious. May be a bit prickly though...

They are a great safety mechanism while riding... you don't want your fanny getting flossed by a sexy g-string when you have a sphincter moment on your bike, it gets rather distracting.

If you are worried about getting cold, then kevlar jeans will not be any use to you. A proper pair of bike pants are several orders of magnitude warmer than any pair of jeans.

I bought a Revit jacket which is short and stylish - at the time had done absolutely no riding so had no idea what worked and what didn't. Not sure I would buy it now but not because I get a cold back with it. I notice the wind whistling around my neck and wrists before I notice it around the kidneys. Point being, there are a few areas that you need to check, not just the length of the jacket.

Agree with the comment about jeans vs bike pants. Jeans are not warm even with a couple of pairs of long-johns underneath. Does depend on speed though. If you are only going low speed around town to get to work, you will be fine with jeans but if you are doing speed on the open road then you will get cold. Money enough to buy both?

Get some winter gloves. Best thing that I did to stay warm. Try them on first as gloves are often blokey in design and the fingers can be too short for women. Try them on and test them by reaching for the brake, clutch etc. I found that the first pair of gloves I bought (yep, as a novice) were too short in the fingers and they became extremely uncomfortable as they pulled on my fingers after a period of riding

I brought the same jacket when I first started riding. It was actually a lot bulkier than I imagined, and it is a long jacket in length. Certainly compared to all the sports jackets out there for ladies. Decent length and pretty warm actually. You will find there is extra room under it to wear another layer if need be. Pretty comfy and ok in the wind. Not so flash in the rain of course but few jackets are. A great jacket to start with - just expect it to be bulkier than it looks - not at fitted as the picture shows.

I agree with Katiepie, I ordered one, found it too bulky, and the sizing ran a bit bigger than I expected. It's a decent length though, goes over the hips. Has all the protection so probably not a bad first jacket :)

You have given me a lot of things to think about! I didn't even think about the gap around the neck and sleeves etc.
I'm lucky in the fact that I'm getting given some gloves so I can try them out and see how they feel, what I like, what I don't etc. But then I will be able to know exactly what I want for when I buy them!

I think I'll buy some jeans first for riding round town and then I'll be able to get some proper pants in a couple weeks or months. I SHOULD be ok for a little while to and from work, but defo a good point to consider!

Oh isn't it? Drat. I had been looking at one on trademe that someone is selling second hand but it's a size too big. I thought that cause it looks fitted in the picture it would be fine but I guess it's back to the drawing board :argh:

I had a quick look in the mens section on cycle treads and they seem to have mens jackets and pants for cheaper than womens! WHY? Surely we can wear the mens anyway!? I'll just dress completely in drag in mens clothing haha.

You will find it goes down to about the middle of the Butt area. They normally do not let cold air up your back. Cheers

Like others have said the 1tonne textile jackets do fit larger than you think. My textile jacket has lasted for years.

If you can get down to Hamilton then you really should check out the Boyd Motorcycle sale http://www.boydmotorcycles.co.nz/Store/?c=71193&t=1

They have gear so stupidly cheap right now you really wouldn't want to miss out. The only reason I haven't purchased a big brand jacket cheap from the sale is because my 1 tonne is still holding up.

They had boxes of jackets and pants labelled $40. Saw quite a few jackets under $200. It's not really the boyds range that is on sale its the wholesalers setting up in store getting rid of their stock. If you have the time it is well worth checking out. No guarantee on sizes though you gotta be quick!

Some of the jackets are bigger than others when it comes to the fit. So to get the right size you need to meausre your chest and then compare your meausrment to the jacket that you want. All measurement on the website have been adjusted for each style of jacket.
