Classic race tyres?

I currently have Bridgestone BT45s on my old BMW 900 ( the rules dictate treaded tyres)
As nice as a set of Dunlops or Avons would be they are nearly a grand :eek5:
I was looking on the net and found Heidenau K34 and K45 for 18 and 19 inch rims.
Anyone used them?
I'm not unhappy with the BT45s but at the end of the day they are are road tyres......

As you know, I keep a close eye on this sort of stuff and there are a few guys using them now around the country.

I'd suggest if you are going to the Classic reg AGM at the AMCC in Ellerslie on Sunday, ask around as there will probably be a few guys there who have used them. Usual rules apply, keep an eye out for the guys who have a bit of speed....otherwise you can get random answers!

Im running Pirelli Sport Demon's 18 inch rear, 19 inch front on my R90/6 pre '76 racer. I found them to be fine.
Maybe thats a random answer though, time will tell.

I should have been more specific, Dunlop/Avon soft compound treaded race tyres, not road tyres.
Question is has anyone got any experience with Heidenau soft compound tyres.

The BT45's are good, I can scrape the old Beemers rocker cover on a couple of turns at Puke and HD...

Volty, not directly as I have used them, but what I have seen is that grip seems okay, due to compound being fairly sofft. Though one rider I know (def sits in the fast category) said there was a lack of feel. His usual tyre of pref being Avon AM22 front and or AM23 Avon or Dunlop Rear.

I am building up a 'baby beemer" and it was going to inherit the BT45's, spotted the Heidenaus on TM for about 1/2 the price of Dunlops/Avon soft compound tyres.
Yeah the AM22 and AM23 seem to popular.

As some know, I'm the one selling Heidenau's on T/me, under the RideLife name.
Not much point Me saying how good they are, seen I'm the seller it may not mean much, but we do have people out there using them who are very happy.
I will ask for some feedback from them on here next week, as this weekend gunna be way busy sorry.

Question is has anyone got any experience with Heidenau soft compound tyres.

The bike in my avatar runs them, Eston500.

I have ridden on them twice, once at a hill climb event, and once at Taupo. Although the bikes are quite different i don't have any complaints about them. They didn't hop, skip or slip on me in either race, the eston has a very abrupt front brake until it starts to get some good heat into it and the front tire didn't give me any cause for concern. There was more swing arm flexing going on in the rear end before i had any tire worries.

That said I also Rate the BT-45's high as a road/trackday tyre, and have done a few k's doing both riding types on them and always felt confident.

I don't know what anyone else thinks of them, but i reckon they must be alright. I'm Pretty sure Tyler Lincoln was running them in streetstock at Nationals? he did really well on them. but again different class bike etc.

They worked realy well, sticky and last good too, the tread grooves are wide and pump the water away well in wet races and the tread gets really soft in the dry and moves into the grooves to sort of make a "slick"
A pair did the winter series and a few track days, were still good but replaced before the Nats and used them on the spare KR, I have raced ithe spare bike and found the good and grippy
Tyler did a 1.52.4 at Taupo on them on his KR and had a huge battle with Billy on a CBR250 so they are well worth buying for Classic Racing as thats it what most of there sizing suits
